Door lock help

#1 Post by alvera »

The drivers door lock sometimes freezes in the lock position so when I close the door it bangs against the lock instead of closing properly. If I then get a screwdriver in the lock and pull the latch it works perfectly. Is this serviceable or does it need replacing ?
If it can be serviced what is required?
If it needs a new one does anyone have one available?

Thanks in advance for any help, Alan

Yes you would need the door card off to clean it propery , but you could try just spraying WD40 around the lock mech at the end of the door and see if it helps

If it helps, in 50 years i've NEVER had to replace a latch for failure, they ALWAYS clean up and work right! The hardest part is when the door is stuck shut and can't be opened to get the card off, that takes enginuity and patience!

Thanks for your help I'll take the door card off and clean it properly. It's reassuring to hear that's all it needs.
