Good news, bad news. Isn't that always the way with old cars?
The good news is the Sprint servo I got off ebay will work with the 1500 master cylinder and clutch master. I tested it with the engine running and it works.
However I found a problem, the 1500 metal mount for the rubber gear gaiter fouls the Sprint gear selector mechanism and you get a nice clonk when the engine is running.
So I either need the Sprint item, have to modify the 1500 one or make one from scratch. Has anyone got one they would be willing to sell or made such a modification themselves?

Thanks for the offer, I don't want to put you out, it would probably be a lot of work, it is quite a complicated piece of metal work.new to this wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 8:53 pmHicleverusername wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 7:44 pm Good news, bad news. Isn't that always the way with old cars?

Why wouldn't it? The brake master cylinders are identical across the range. The good news is the Sprint servo I got off ebay will work with the 1500 master cylinder
Be very careful when 'testing' a Sprint servo, if you depress the brake pedal without the cylinder fitted and charged with fluid you can shatter the diaphragm and destroy the servo.
The ring that secures the gaiter to the tunnel, or the tunnel itself? So I either need the Sprint item

Re: Servo success, gear gaiter woes
I tested it with it fully together, I am aware of the potential for the internals to shatter. I am pretty sure that is what happened to the 1500 one. I was worried it wouldn't fit because sprints seem to have remote reservoirs and there has to be a reason for that; I guessed it was clearance.
It is the metal ring I need, though I think I can probably fabricate something.

Re: Servo success, gear gaiter woes
The Sprint servo has slightly larger diameter which makes filling the integral clutch reservoir without spilling even harder, hence the remote reservoir, which was also fitted to some very late 1850s
I have spare gaiter rings if you struggle with the fabrication...
