Garage floor coverings - opinions
Hello all. Due to some house/ garage 'improvements' my garage is empty at the moment - the first time ever.
Before the car/tools/clutter return once the works are complete, I would like to do something with the floor.
In the past (previous house) i've painted the floor with garage floor paint, although found this didn't really last too well - most probably due to lack of good preparation.
Looking around, it seems people either use a resin based paint or floor tiles.
Any opinions out there as to the best option?
Best wishes
MC

A friend of Mine use's this as it's non slip and hard wearing. His garage floor was smooth concrete and when he painted it, it was very slippery. A lot more expensive though.

Most paints react, believe it or not with the tyre rubber, which eventually pull it from the floor. The Watco one I posted above is formulated not to; they also do industrial non-slip floor paints that are even harder wearing.

if you have a CostCo account have a look at their garage floor liner, its a kinda rubber carpet affair, ive not used it but know a few who have and not heard any complaints.
I need to do something with mine but at 1000SqFt i'm a bit reluctant to pay for anything but paint.

I have recently used this one.

I can't vouch for its longevity but, with the special primer, it seems to stick well and goes on very nicely.

I've got about 20 gallons of industrial floor paint if anyone wants some! comes in 4 or 5 gallon tubs (have to check) Grey and maybe 1 or 2 Red left, £20 a tub collected. Not only illegal to post but also very heavy!

Re: Garage floor coverings - opinions
In the end I went with Alun's recommendation and purchased some resin floor paint from Watco. I prepared the surface with some of their acid etch fluid first to remove any oil deposits etc before I applied 2 coats of the paint. It is a lovely paint to apply and easy with a roller.
It gives a nice mild sheen finish.
Thanks for the advice on this one gents.

Haha! Thanks Tony.
We've had a small extension to our house which required access through the garage. I put all my clobber in storage during the work so thought I'd paint before it all comes back.
