[1300 TC FWD] Weird front rubber configuration

It seems that there is 2 versions of the front engine rubber mounts. On mine the later.

The Repair Operation Manual of the car is also confusing as there is 2 configurations :

on page 1-112 and 1-113 (see photos)
on page 4-102 (see photo)

On photo 4-102 I've put the other type in red.

So a change occurred in the production as also the front engine plate has changed for the new mounting. Later rubbers are a lot bigger, so I imagine that they changed it for a better soundproofing reason.

Problem is that the the later configuration is not well engineered as they are almost vertical (see photo 4-102) so the rubbers are not working in compression but in shear (not sure of that word): when they get old the engine touches the front subframe bar ... thus the 2 white silicone rubber on mine (see photo on original post) that are ruining totally the soundproofing improvement desired.

So I've tried to put mine on earlier rubbers ... Problem : they are too thick (see photo)

Question : are the Triumph 2000 rubbers really the same as the 1300 FWD ?

The first two pics show them as the should be correctly fitted, you have the wrong mounts fitted those are Dolomite ones, you need triumph 1300 mounts which are not as thick and and are shaped differently as shown in the first two pics

These are the first type ... same as Triumph 2000, I don't know ?

NOW, if you look carefully at the third pics (from the Triumph 1300FWD Repair Operation Manual), the rubbers are not the same as yours, but as the 4th and 5th photos.

Likely that whoever worked on your car was also fooled by the ROM which is not correct. As you so rightly state, this arrangement puts the mounts in shear rather than compression, a problem also on the Sprint's R/H mount. If the holes are there (looks like it, the earth strap is bolted through one) I'd go back to the earlier style mounts if you can find a pair.

Same as T2000, I don't think so, the correct FWD mounts appear to have a central steel plate and 2 distinct rubber bits each, which is not shared by the 2000 if memory serves (not had a 2000 for a few years so I could be wrong)

Thanks Steve for your answer ! I feel little better.
The strange thing is that there is a part that was specially made for that arrangement (see pic 1).
Also the front engine plate is different to accept the "new" mounting arrangement (see previous 4th and 5th pics).
So I don't believe that it is an interpretation of an enthusiast "mecano". But Yes it is totally wrong engineering wise.

Now I did go back to the earlier style mount and ordered some (supposed to be the same than the) T2000 rubbers.
But they don't fit right ! the holes are there, the pattern is fine but it seems that the T2000 are a bit thicker so couldn't manage to put both rubber correctly (see pic 2).

So if someone got a genuine 1300FWD rubber I would love to know its thickness.

There is no early/ late mounts on the Triumph 1300, I have owned, rebuilt, restored and stripped many infact i would hazard a guess at over 50 and there has only ever been the one type of mount. I do have some original ones so can take pics and measurements for you.

That pics is not a Dolomite mount, the shape is same but the two bolts are in wrong place, it also wouldn't bolt to a 1300 subframe
The 1300 mounts do look like a Triumph 2000 one but having never owner a 2000 I couldn't say for sure.

The part number is 145109 which isn't the same as a 2000's

My car is a French 1300TC, maybe this is an export arrangement. Definitely not a custom montage as the 2 brackets and engine front plate couldn't be made by an enthusiast and is exactly as the ROM.

I must admit I don't understand what is 50mm : from under the bottom plate to top of top plate (excluding the bolt) ?
Not clear to me on the drawing the 50mm measure seems to go half the bolt ?!?

sorry it the camera angle, its 50 from bottom of plate to top of bolt and 35 to top of rubber.

Export arrangement from Belgium? I have a French imported 1300 what was build in Belgium and a Dutch 1300tc made in Belgium. These don't differ from eachother except early and late, carbs etc. but these dont differ from the UK spec other than mine have the steering wheel fitted on the correct side. Also enginemounts the same as the UK spec and the same through the whole range.
