Hi all
The Toledo has had a good few jobs done on it recently. Lots or rewiring going on for the new headlights and fusebox.
Next job on the list is to wire up the overdrive. I don't have the original loom or gearstick so will make up the loom myself with a switch fitted in the centre console. My question is, can anyone give me directions on how to wire it all up? I can see the solenoid and also some switches on the unit , so just looking for guidance on what goes where in the loom. Has anyone done this themselves and maybe drawn a diagram?
Thanks all
Andy

Re: Sprint overdrive wiring help
D, J or P type overdrive? I'd recommend using a relay, but you can probably get away without one on a J/P but not a D.
I can't lay my hands on the Dolomite wiring diagram, but the J type in a Spitfire is wired up as follows:

Green is FUSED live on ignition
17 OD solenoid
18 OD Switch
19 Gearbox inhibitor switch
Mine is wired up something like this:

Re: Sprint overdrive wiring help
Original equipment in all Dolomites so equipped was indeed variations of the J type.

Re: Sprint overdrive wiring help
Thanks chaps. You'll have to forgive me as my reading of diagrams is not great . Is that a fused feed that goes through both the inhibitor and switch and another direct to the solenoid but with a switch inline?
The stupid thing is I did this years ago but the wiring has come to pieces whilst it's been in restoration.

Yeah fused feed goes in 1 terminal on the GB inhibitor switch, out the other terminal. Then into the OD switch and out, then 1 terminal on the solenoid on the OD and the other is earthed. (To the GB casing if I remember rightly)
