Lifting out the engine
What is the combined weight of a 1500 engine complete with gearbox and overdrive?

Re: Lifting out the engine
Too heavy to lift without a crane! Beyond that, there is no need to know! But if I had to guess, id say about 150kg.

Re: Lifting out the engine
Two of us lifted just a 1500 engine out with a 5 x 2 spar a while ago; I’d guess at about 80 for the engine and 40 for a non overdrive ’box, so maybe closer to 130…

Based on this I'd guess around 150-160kg

Re: Lifting out the engine
I have lifted a number of engines and gearboxes out using a 1/2 ton chain block that I have had for a long time but I was concerned that I might have been pushing my luck with the length of chain that I use to connect the chain block hook to the engine. I may have look to see what is currently available that will take 3cwt /150kgm.
I do not have the height to lift the body off over the engine. I can only just get the engine with O/D attached high enough to get it out of the engine bay.
