Having fitted a sprint transmission in my TR7 Toledo, I've got an 1850 transmission sitting spare.

Image

Gearbox:
3 Rail gearbox (I think!), very noisy, definitely needs a rebuild, possibly the layshaft and perhaps other bits. Gearstick and gearbox mount bracket included.
Here is a video of it running with the wheels in the air:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/mn1a8e0hhgM

Overdrive:
Working, engages within a second or two from memory. No wiring, and the gearknob is a non overdrive one so you'll need a switch. Think it is a J Type?

Prop:
No known issues but I never looked that hard.

Axle:
As above. Brakes are stripped off, but worked well. If I can find the shoes (Good ones, maybe 2000 miles old?) I'll throw them in. Will need new brake pipes and maybe cylinders. I have a new fitting kit I can throw in too. Will need a fluid fill as it drained out the breather while sitting. Hammerited black, not rusty.

Nuts & Bolts:
I will have reused some of them so best to assume you'll need new ones.

It's currently in my in laws garden, but if anybody wants me to check or photograph anything I'll see what I can do. It was removed from the car in December and has been stored outside since.

-------------------------------------

Location:
North east Fife / Dundee area.

Delivery:
Possible if you cover my cost, also happy to arrange shipping at the buyers expense.

Selling the bits separately:
Yes I'd be happy to do that.

Price:
Not sure. Make me an offer, or just let me know what you think it is worth. If you could pick it up in the next 10 days that would sweeten the deal, as my inlaws would like it off their decking with the weather improving! Would like it out of the way as I don't have anywhere dry to store it, but if it's worth peanuts I might as well stash it somewhere in case we need bits in the future.

Swaps?
There are a few bits that would be handy, so I may be interested in swaps with the possibility of money going either way.
Dolomite sprint steering wheel
Sprint transmission tunnel in decent condition
Sprint subframe
Front seats with headrests (or a whole interior)
Toledo headlights (not sealed beam).

The overdrive ‘box is worth a few hundred pounds on its own…a shame it wasn’t out when you called in as we could have done a swap :-?

Might be worth seeing how much palletline would charge…

That’s good to know, a friend is letting me put them in their garage for now so the I’ve got a bit less impetus to get them shifted, but they are still for sale.

I have the bracket for the 1850 box if that is what you need. After a lot of swearing we realised while looking similar the 1850 and sprint brackets are different, thankfully Alun supplied a sprint one with the box.

This continues to puzzle me...because all overdrive models share the same part number for the cross member: 218519

I don't know about part numbers, not done the research.

What I do know is that there are at least 3 O/D crossmembers, 1 with the mount hole central, 1 with the mount hole offset (1850 single rail?) and a 3rd, which may be for 1500 single rail O/D with offset mount and holes to mount to the body that are only big enough to clear a 5/16" stud rather than the normal 3/8" clearance holes (I still have this one in my shed, it was supplied by a customer with a Sprint box but wouldn't fit the car)

Steve

My parts book (rtc9822cb, Feb 1981) has the following listed:

218519 - 1500cc & 1500HL OD (page 1D 09 R)
217398 - Automatic 1500cc & 1500HL (page 1D 10 L)
217754 - Manual Transmission (Less O/D) - 1850HL (page 1D 10 R)
218519 - Manual Transmission (With O/D) - 1850HL (page 1D 11 L)
217399 - Auto - 1850HL (page 1D 11 R)
218519 - Sprint Manual (page 1D 12 L)
218588 - Auto - Sprint (page 1D 12 R)

217398, 217399 & 218588 look very similar in the diagrams.

Pic of the two crossmembers - one very offset, the other slightly offset.
