Restoration 1850

#1 Post by Bentley8 »

Hello

I am new to the site looking for help with my Dolomite 1850 .

the car is now completely dismantled , the engine & gear box rebuilt, back axle and sub frame removed and the shell in body shop awaiting strip and re paint .

I am trying to source all new parts where possible however i have hit a brick wall Today with the Trailing Arm Tie Bars 152583 does anyone have a source for these parts or alternatives ?

I have tried mainstream Rimmer Bros , TD Fitechet ect

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated .

kind regards

Hello Dave and welcome.

These parts are the rear radius rods (the trailing arms are the channel sections that run perpendicular to the axle).

I suspect you will struggle to find new items as a common failure of them (especially when tightening the nuts when using poly bushes) is for the threaded part to shear off. As a consequence supply of new ones dried up years ago. I would have thought Fitchetts were the last people to have some and if they now don't you'll need to hope for someone with new old stock sitting on a shelf and willing to let them go.

If you do resort to good used, inspect the threaded part carefully as many will be exhibiting a bend in one direction caused by resisting the desire for the axle to tramp in one direction!
