1500 fwd clutch
1500 fwd clutch
Hi does anyone know where I can get a clutch cover for my 1500 fwd please
Re: 1500 fwd clutch
I had a quick look around the web and found Rimmers do the one for the 1300, but don`t list the 1500. Only ones on Ebay seem to be for the RWD cars, David manners only seem to list key rings and gearknobs so useless. I think if you could get a part number it would be a good start, but worth phoning Rimmer Bros and asking them. I know there are still many front wheel drive Triumphs about, so I would be surprised if the clutches were unobtainable.
Also the club has a FWD Registrar, so it might be worth emailing him.

The bloke who has been selling clutch kits at auto jumbles for the last 30+ years is called Alwyn Lewis, but I don’t know what his business/trading name is and have been unsuccessful in finding him on line, but I reckon he’ll be the man who can assist…

The following thread lists the clutch cover part number as GCC170
https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/vie ... hp?t=12767
The only one I can find is on Ebay in Spain:

Re: 1500 fwd clutch
Canley Classics list the cover plate 'as no longer available' but have stock of the driven plate GCP191 so if the only one out there is in Spain I would go for it as even Mick Dolphin no longer has it and was last listed as stock in 2017... You could wait and trawl autojumbles etc. but may not find another.....DOLOMITE 135 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 3:52 pm The following thread lists the clutch cover part number as GCC170

Re: 1500 fwd clutch
I have what I think is a decent condition used one, it's still attached to an engine I removed from a running driving car last year.
I can take it off in the next day or two for a better inspection and report back with photos.
There also used to be a shop near me (In Kidderminster) that specialised in reconditioning oddball clutch parts. I haven't been past the door, let alone inside, for years. I'm not even sure if they are still trading though I can check. But even if they are gone, I suspect they weren't the only company in England to be offering such a service and someone, given a spare one, could recon it for you.
It also might be worth having a chat with Larkspeed, who do new Sprint clutches, both standard and uprated. I've used their products and been very satisfied with them. If the original is truly unobtanium, they might well be interested in reproducing it.

Re: 1500 fwd clutch
have you tried Allan Cassie, the club's FWD spares man? https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/vie ... hp?t=37975 or https://obsoletecarspares.co.uk/
Re: 1500 fwd clutch
OK asked the Q in the Facebook Group and apparently Calder Clutch in Leeds made someone a replacement for a 1500 FWD https://www.calderclutch.co.uk/ so worth getting in touch with them plus 'John Pringle' says he has a second hand one (but no idea on condition).
