Water pump impellors

#1 Post by cliftyhanger »

I have been going through some spares and have a few bits of water pumps. I have 2 impellers, both 6 vane, but one is smaller. Any ideas what is what?

The one on the right of the top photo' is an early 6v, the one on the left is a late 6v where the vane sizes were increased.

You'll find a corresponding change in the cover castings, though there was no part number changes until the 12v was introduced.

Thank you for the explanation. I don't have any spare 6vane covers (though I do have a spare 12Vane cover), however my car has a 6vane pump, so I will build up a spare. A reface of the seal face area will be done first though. That requireds a visit to a fre=iend with a lathe...
