Would you know know the part number of the Vauxhall concentric slave that is used for the conversion? We don't have Omega's in Australia, (could be the same or similar to our Holden Vectra), but in the aim of keeping this post a source of information for others, the part number would help.

thanks
Mark
I believe the Omega body is/was sold in Oz as a Commodore, though with different engines. In the UK they came with 2.0 and 2.2 litre 16v 4 cyl and 24v quad cam V6s in 2.5, 2.6, 3.0 and 3.2 litre variants (depending on year) I gather you lucky guys can add a V8 or two to that list. In fact, the Omega I broke for the engine and box to put in my Sprint donated most of it's rear suspension to an imported Aussie V8 Commodore that had gone sideways into a kerb!

The gearbox and slave I use is from the smaller 4 cylinder model, but I gather the V6 one is the same bit. When I had to replace mine, I got one from ebay without any bother. I'll do a bit of research tomorrow and see if I can come up with a part number.

Steve

PS, If you come across a V8 Monaro (2 or 4 door) going cheap, i'm interested!

OK, so I did some research on UK Ebay and got dozens of results on the Omega clutch slave, so stand by for an information overload!

OE part number 96296677
Quinton Hazell CSC001
Borg and Beck BCS124
Brembo E59013
Febi/Bilstein 36308
Luk 510000510
Motaquip VCC9
Sachs 3182998801
TRW PJQ103
Valeo 804502

If the pictures are to be believed, this unit has a curved bearing face to the cover plate. the Cylinder fits all models of the Omega from 2.0 4 cyl to 3.2 V6 and several other assorted Vauxhalls too. Prices run from just over £50 to just shy of £200 depending on make and supplier. If you can't find ANY in Oz, i'd be fine with buying you one or two here and shipping them for you.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the information, should be great help for others.

Should be able to source the parts that I need either via Ebay, or I also use https://spareto.com/ which has been great for Euro car parts.

Still have a long way to go in my project build, this just one part of the story, so when I sort it will update here for share with others if they are interested.

Can't help you with a Monaro, even with the declining car market, Aussie muscle cars are still holding there own for value.

Best I can offer you is my "Beast'

Built as a race car transporter and also tows car trailer when need to move 2 cars.

Love the truck! Can't really call it a "ute" any more! I've had a plan for a similar race car transporter for a long time. But utilising a FWD Cavalier 2 litre platform and a very low bed with 2 trailing axles with Metro hydragas suspension controlled from the cab with an electro/hydraulic pump, so it "kneels" and no ramps are needed. Great for very low cars. The main thing stopping me is British legalities around such vehicles. it's almost impossible to register such a creation without vast expense and complication! Likewise problems would probably preclude importing and registering yours!

Best of luck with the project, drop me a PM if you need anything.

Hi Dave,

It is hard to say, it really depends on car we are talking about.

The concentric slave conversion initially will be for my road Sprint that is being recommissioned after sitting for 16 years with a failed engine. Have had that car for 40 years, and has a long and checkered history in one way an another. If I am happy with the concentric slave conversion it might get fitted to the race car (on the back of the truck) if and when the next time the gearbox/motor is removed.

The race car (Sprint) I have owned since 1990. It is an Australian built (in 1977) Group C touring car (similar to your old Group 2 cars) and was raced regularly in the Australian Touring car Championship until 1984 and then 1985 in Group A specs. I raced this car from 1990 to 2008 in several categories until it was damaged in 2008 and retired from active racing.

Although the car was repaired it sat for many years awaiting reassembly, which was finally completed about 2 years ago. It has done a couple of track days since but nothing serious. Later this week I am doing a track day shake down as it is going to the National Motor Racing Museum at Bathurst for several months on display. I believe that this will be the first Triumph ever to be displayed at the at the Bathurst museum.

Some time ago I did consider a Mondeo concentric slave but ruled it out
because the release bearing was only wide to work on the very tips of the clutch cover fingers,
but the slave cylinder I looked at is different to yours....?

Well you bugger! I spent weeks trying to find the part numbers for that and you've just posted 10 of 'em!

The Borg and Beck one is only 40 quid posted, you can't go wrong with that!
Come and see some pretty shoddy, slow driving of a really well prepared competition Sprint here!

Don't know where you were looking old son, I got that whole list in no more than 10 mins research! The second one on the page of cylinders had the entire list of alternatives numbers on it. It took longer to copy the list here than to find it! Mind you, I DO have an Omega listed in "my garage" on ebay!
