I put a post up the other day on here when myself and my friend upgraded to Rover 400 seats from the original, non-reclining seats. At the time of the last post, I had put the Rover passenger seat into the Triumph. Now, they’re both in.
I bought these two as a last minute deal before the entire 400 was scrapped from someone local to myself, for £50. The drivers seat back adjuster was broken, so that was fixed after a few short hours (the inner rod was buckled and required a new mechanism to adjust it).
Anyhoo, after the brackets on the runners were cut and welded on, the holes for the seat were measured so they could be mounted onto the original holes with captive nuts. They went in after hours and hours of work.
I really like these, the design of these seats fit so well with the rest of the interior. The ribbed pattern goes perfect and I think they look a lot classier. I gather 400 seats are quite hard to come by, but I’d recommend these so much! They’re so much more comfortable than the originals and the seating position is a lot more positive.
Let me know what you guys think!

Re: Rover seats into Toledo (finally finished).
Just in case anyone is interested, I have a full car set of these seats in black leather available. They do look good in the car and are extremely comfortable, though I found the height adjustable drivers seat a little too high off the floor for my personal long body/short legs frame type, my head was a bit too close to the ceiling for comfort. Which is why I never used them myself, opting instead for 1/2 leather MGZR seats which don't have the extra mechanism in the base.
I'd be looking to get as close as I can to the £120 I paid for the set, collect only from Highley Shropshire due to size and weight! Or I can take to Stoneleigh show if you act fast!

Re: Rover seats into Toledo (finally finished).
I suppose it’s all down to driver comfort. These particular 400 seats I’ve fitted don’t have the height adjustable function, my friend who fitted them gave the seats a whirl first and drove round the block, he said the seating position was perfect for him, though he is around 5’8”. Then I had a go and I’m a little over 6’0”, though I get what you mean about the roof feeling low, I tried a few positions on the chair and found one that feels good for driving now. I wouldn’t recommend the seats for anyone of a taller disposition. I also feel with these seats, that I have better pedal control as the original ones, once in, slant back a touch and don’t feel like you’re fully engaging the pedals.
I concur and agree that these 400 seats are extremely comfortable. Very practical as well as I now have a fully supportive back rest and they even have handy pockets on the rear of the seats for placing mechanical literature etc into them.

Re: Rover seats into Toledo (finally finished).
In my case, almost anything is more comfy than stock seats which barely come up to my shoulder blades and are slow torture on long journeys (in fact anything more than a handful of miles)
I've used, or am using, seats from MGZR, MGF, Ford Escort mkVI, BMW E46 3 series coupe circa 2010 (these are leather/alcantara, tilt and recline and all electric and are absolutely the mutts nuts, they are going into my 2 door. Better still, they were FREE, from a mate who was upgrading his Beamer) and I also have a cloth recovered Corbeau racing seat. All of which are a vast improvement on the standard ones!

Sounds even better, Steve. We all love a freebie, especially when they come into practical use!
