Wheel studs

Hi just thought I’d post this might be of some use to someone in the future. I needed to change rear studs so thought I would try without removing hubs because either way the cover needs to come off the back of hub. I tapped carefully has I could around hub and tapped back one section fully to see if I had room to change studs.

Managed to change quite easily with plenty of room but drawing them through was not easy but managed with washers and nuts to do it vey carefully





I tapped backplate back round but just need to find a way to fix them or don’t know whether to remove them altogether

Hi Chumley

When I fitted my MG studs, I did away with the back plate and put Loctite on the splines and I have had no issues.

When I replaced my rear studs I removed the hub and worked on my bench, which worked out much better.

Thanks I thought about that but read that it can be a right pain removing the hub without the correct puller did you replace the backplate

I brought the correct pulleryes it was very tight but it came off with a bang. Using the puller I did not have to disturb the brakes or back plate. Now I have a puller for any further work
