Stoneleigh Resto Show

#1 Post by Dollyboy »

cant be far away, does anyone have dates for this?

can i have 1st dibs on a project for this major event?

its just an idea but seeing as my tolo project is dragging on longer than i'd like and time to do anything is just killing me, i thought it may be an interesting job for the show, but its gona require some graft to nail it in a day.

This is a list of work required:

remove engine, gbox, subframe c/w suspension, rad and some ancillaries.
fit replacement subframe, engine with o/d box (wiring required), rad with leccy fan (wiring required)
bleed clutch
swap diff (and possibly propshaft and tunnel)
swap rear wheel studs
swap springs/shox (all 4 corners)
swap seats/carpets
install stereo (all wiring required)

plan would be bring all the bits ready for fitting in a van and i reckon with 5 able competant bodies with tools going at it pretty full on it could probably be done. could have a mate with a recovery truck on standby in case we dont get it done.

total transformation of car, surely must be worthy of another trophy.

lunch on me for the workforce and suitable donation to the club?

any thoughts?

AIUI since the man who ran the shows passed away there is some uncertainty about resto shows going forwards. Andy might know a little more.

i had it in my head that there were 2 resto shows for some reason. thought it'd be something different to do, but 'driveway service centre' it'll have to be i reckon.

not to worry, i'll just plod on. tolo wont be done for this stoneleigh, but will be out there by spring with a bit of luck.

gona lose the seats n carpets tomorrow weather permitting and depending on how hard my crappy cold i've just got leaves me feeling. probably cable up for back speakers too. also have springs and shox to brush over and repaint, see how time goes.

It depends on someone co-ordinating it efficiently. Susie and I had to get in by osmosis last time as the passes were firstly 'elsewhere' and then when 'elsewhere' eventually turned up they had been given to 'others'.

Confirmed as cancelled, along with the Mini Show; I spoke to the organiser today; she said the spring show was likely shelved for good, but the Autumn would hopefully continue.

Stoneliegh apparently costs £40k to rent so smaller venues may be considered

It's a shame but hopefully the autumn one will continue. I'd also like to see the return of Advance tickets for the Spares Day show, there's gonna be a huge queue for the Triumph Spares Day Show.

For the last resto show in october, I had the tickets, I went to bed on saturday knowing i had tickets for 4 people, i then awake to a phone call saying that there were 10+ people at the gates waiting for me and there tickets and things were getting heated!! :? I was then told to give tickets to them at the gates!!

I wasn,t organising the last event, just trying to help out!!

I can confirm that there will be no Spring Restoration Show this year. The next Restoration Show will be in the Autumn, date yet to be confirmed. The International Triumph Show & Spares Day will be on Sunday 10th February, this event is being discussed in a seperate thread.
