Thought I would share some pictures of the best motoring weekend I have probably ever had. Competed this weekend just gone in an "around-the-houses" event in a small town about 450kms south of Perth. Drove down on Friday with a mate in his TR2 for the racing on Sunday. The whole town gears up for this each year as hundreds of motoring enthusiasts come down to either compete or watch what is a "re-creation" of the way we used to go car racing back in the good old days!! There are two excellent hillclimbs to enter on the Saturday (which I didn't do, but am pretty tempted to do next year) and then the racing around the streets of the town on the Sunday. 130 entries and 28 events for the Sunday racing ranging from pre war sports cars and specials up to mid seventies sporting cars. I had four races and the car was fantastic. One minor problem in race two - the jet fuel line on one of the SUs cracked (took 32 years!!) causing the car to run badly on only two cylinders. Easy fix and aside from that it ran beautifully. Had one race where I just couldn't get past a racing Ford Anglia - he had more power, I had a much better handling car. In that race my times were 1min 16sec. In the last race my times were 8 seconds a lap quicker - ie about a second every corner!! The circuit is lined with very intimidating concrete (you can probably see in some of the pics) and at certain places is only one car wide, but everyone was very well behaved and there were no incidents. It was also brilliant to drive the car down, race and drive the car home again. Anyway, here's some pics...

Hi Paul, that has to be one of greatest experiences, to drive around local streets......all going the same way......as fast as you can......and not getting a speeding ticket The roads look in good condition too, no pot holes to knock the fillings out your teeth!! Well done. Regards Tom.
