It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Indeed. Owner was Peter Wade IW Rep for the TDC. Second video was filmed in (I reckon) 1996. I travelled up as a passenger in PDL 208M.

Travelled down in the light blue Toledo with the Triumph advertising board on the roof you can just see in the back ground of PDL 208M - this car's engine and drivetrain live on in another IW car. :)

The Toledo is in long term storage awaiting Sprint conversaion.

Here is a picture of the rally from the top of the hill at Gaydon;

Pity the camera man was so obsessed with the Sprints as there were many fine examples of other models within the range on display that day too.

LCD 63P is Howard Bowles's ex Police car, featured in the first edition of Triumph World mag, they did a follow up not that long ago and I think both car and owner seem to have vanished off the face of the earth. Chris Curtis might have some more info on this.

Does anyone have any idea who the bloke is shutting the boot of mine or the gent stood next to him. Might help to date the video.

checked out facebook and low and be hold some one had posted the second video for me ,after a few seconds of watching it i realised thats me , the skinny fella in the stripy t'shirt.
just phoned my brother and they are the videos he took on the day .

after much debate len i believe i bought my sprint in 94 and spent nearly a year rebuilding it mechanically , so it must have been 1995

1st Vid:

Blue car belongs (belonged) to John Bates, a builder from Wolverhampton who used to frequent the Midlands' meet but I've not heard from him for over ten years; he bought a TR6 to restore and moved into that scene.

Carmine car is Ted Middleton's

Yellow obviously Len's

POH nothing to do with me!

OUE is John Glenn's old car

2nd Vid:

Magenta belongs to Jim Hylton

SOE is Kitley's ex works car with his Sprint engined sherpa behind

NRP was Paul Glaister's

The red Stag you see parked amongst the Dolomites is there because....

....it was powered by a Sprint motor.

The Gaydon event was S.O.D.I.T (forerunner of TDCIR) in 1994.

I'm fairly sure my Sprint was off the road then so probably wasn't there.

I was there, but as this was during my wilderness years as a non member because I didn't like not knowing where the subscriptions went, CAB was parked at the top of the hill by the WCs...ah, the heady days before popular internet!

Wilderness years for me to. The rustomite was tucked up in a garage at home while I was at uni.
