TDCIR 2009

#1 Post by DavePoth »

This year, the South West group have taken on the challenge of organising TDCIR, so I'm happy to announce that TDCIR 2009 will be at the Haynes International Motor Museum in Sparkford, near Yeovil, on the 6th of September 2009, as a part of their Rare Breeds Car Show.

Sparkford is around a three hour drive from Coventry, or around 2 1/2 hours from London.

Forum user "Yellow Banana" has asked that anybody who's interested should let him know so he can get an idea of numbers. Club members get discounted admission to the museum (which is brilliant) so don't forget to bring your membership cards.

Accomodation-wise, there is a campsite in Sparkford, and there are several B&Bs nearby. Mick Dolphin will be turning up, and the club will be bringing the usual selection of parts from club stock.

PM me if you want more details.

Ok, a little more info. There's a campsite in the village, which is within a mile or so of the museum.

http://www.sparkford.f9.co.uk/lhi.htm

Cost is £18 per night for a car and two people with a tent.

There's also a B&B at the Sparkford Inn, which is also the only local pub. Rooms start at £45 per night.

If anybody wants to make a weekend of it I would heartily recommend the RNAS Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, which is just down the road.

For those coming down from Coventry, I'm looking to see if there's a location on the way down for breakfast. :D

Woohoo! Only about 40 smiles from me & a nice run down through the countryside. Anyone want to meet up for a convoy?

Will we be able to use the track?
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

Thanks DavePoth for bringing the TDCIR 2009 to everyone's notice. His tip about visiting
the Fleet Air Arm museum is highly recommended - even though you may need to make a
weekend of it. Lets face it, as we don't usually come to prominence in organising shows
down this part of the country, you may not have the chance again for a few years - by which time all you big kids out there will have grown up a bit more!! :D

Sorry Mart - have already asked the museum staff re the use of the track but as the Rare
Breeds Show was booked some months back (middle of last year I think!) the track has
been booked out to them unfortunately.

Tried to get Rimmers to attend as well but they have a full calender and thought that
this might be "a bridge too far" although Mick Dolphin has confirmed he would like to come.

As DavePoth has said, if you can let me know either by this thread or email mltaylor@plymouth.ac.uk if you really do plan to come then I can advise the museum of a rough guide to numbers. This is to help determine if we use the hardstanding area or the
grass area (<50 use the hardstanding, >50 the grass area).

If any of you have any queries I'll be up on this thread every other day or so, so don't worry -
I won't be out of contact.
