thanks very much everyone! as promised heres a little bit more..

I got my doors back from storage and seeing as i had nowhere to put them at home i decided to get the back on the car (as im quite happy to have the car sprayed with the doors on). the back one was by far the easiest but did need a couple of shims on the bottom hinge to even up the back top corners

Image

the front needed a little bit more fettling but went on easy enough in the end, all that was left to do was apply a scrape of filler to a couple of the corners just to get them flush

Today i god the windscreen out as i knew there had been water getting in along the bottom corners, luckily it wasnt nearly as bad as id thought!
the drivers corner had some holes in and at some point in the past someone had welded a piecr of metal over these to hide them:

Image

i cut a small area out to investigate..

Image

which turned into a slightly larger area..

Image

its all back to good metal now and it shouldnt be very hard to make up new bits to go in

Image

can anyone recommend the best/cheapest place to get new screen rubber and chrome finishing strip?

cheers very much everyone, im pleased about it starting to look like a car again!

the hole round the screen was all patched and filled over quite nicely,

Image

Image

with the rest of the area around it cleared of rust that was pretty much all i could do with the car sitting where it was

Image

so with a bit of push and pull work we got it turned round ready to start on the other side!..

next big bit of the bodywork that needs looking in is the other sill..

Image

Image

first signs werent too bad, it was still rotten but not as bad as the other side had been.

Image

Image

It was obvious that these werent the original sills as when cutting through you can see how a new one has just been welded over the original rotten one. anything rotten was cut out and part of the back wall was welded in as well as the rectangular strengthening piece

Image

and then the front reinforcer..

Image

Image

Its being done in sections just to keep reference points of what needs to sit where and at what height etc.

next section!...
Image

most of the dust on the floor used to be sill..

Image

you can see quite a lot has to be taken out toward the middle..

Image

Image

more new metal..

Image

more has been done as its on to section 3 now but my camera batterys ran out!
