Looks great Mart.
I do agree with Jeroen's tiny detail. Get it sorted.

Thanks Ben.

OK, we're obviously talking at cross porpoises. My little detail is the decal on the left rear wing.

Think Jeroens little detail is the sgnature strip at the bottom of your posts which now incorrectly describes your car!

I thought that was a very good description by Jeroen.

The engine lives again.

...for now anyway.
Yesterday I got everything ready to start it up but when I tried to get the oil pumped round, nothing was happening. So this morning I removed the oil pump & stripped it. Straight away I could see the outer rotor was badly scored on top & on checking the tolerance, it was well over. I have a couple of old pumps in the cupboard and on stripping the first it looked very good indeed. A quick check of the tolerances told me it was ok to use. After a good clean & reassembly I popped it on the block with just two bolts & started pumping the oil round. Excellent.
On the downside, when I was filling the coolant yesterday there was a leak from the head gasket below the carbs, not good. I'll retorque the head tomorrow, now that the engine's been running, but I don't hold out too much hope that the leak fairies will do their deed overnight.

I went out & retorqued the head this evening. Then I topped-up the cooling system. Then I switched on the ignition to start the EWP circulating the coolant. Hmmm! seems the leak fairies may have fixed the leak after all. [-o< So started the engine & looked & waited & looked some more...........no leak.

Still, I'll wait 'til I can give it a good shakedown before I'm convinced.

My neighbour just brought these over that he made for me...
