Hi Darren
Not so bad at all really. these things can never be safe enough and I imagine your car isn't going to hang around.
Have to admit I have a bit of of a new look on safety this week, and whilst you will probably never need the cage if you do you will want it to do its job well.

Re: My new track project
Yeah, nothing to serious.
Came off my mountain bike on the way home from work on Monday on my way to work on the Dolly.
Don't remember anything between leaving work at 5 and being in the Hospital at 8, would appear I landed on my head pretty hard, Just bloody glad I was wearing a cycle helmet or I'm not sure I'd be writing this post.
Just have to take things easy for a short while. Certainly makes you think about about the safety of things like helmets and cages etc that you never expect to actually use.

Hope you recover quickly

Rear brake cooling, or an aero tweak?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Re: My new track project
I was thinking rear brake cooling, looks awesome whatever it's for!
Re: My new track project
Just read this thread and am mightily impressed, particularly with the fabrication. Are you going to consider some kind of rear pan diffuser, if the location of the exhaust permits?
Re: My new track project
LOL Thought that would provoke some replies
The reason i have done this is when i got the thing up to quite a high 187 mph at bruntingthorpe
where i bottled out as it was becoming quite unstable ,
It seemed to me that the rear was starting to lift
Now i think this may have been quite a lot of air pressure in the axle and wheelarch area
So to alleviate some of this pressure i have cut these ,
From the side of the car its not too obtrusive to the eye but i suppose only paint will tell .
I have removed most of the boot floor for a diffuser ,the exhaust will be just below the boot lid ,
The underneath of the car will be plated with alum
I have also done the same sort of modification to the front wheel wells and will do something very simlar to the front wings ,I have some very nice vents for the wings taken off a car no longer in production and Very hard to get now and they look the dogs, but they do actually work
I really dont want a rear spoiler as it would have to be like the bunkas car to properly work,
The carbon roof has vortex generators along the rear edge to alleviate potential shock stall as the air leaves the roof as the rear widow doesn't help at all !!!! ,
Also which the picture doesn't show its a nice sweep to the panel where the air exits and not a square edge,
I will show all the carbon panels when i am happy with them and have completed them all,

Theoretically makes sense, the proof is in the pud... driving.
Worked on the 250 GTO anyway.
