Late 1300 is body colour...
Everything esle Ive done has been bare metal...
V reg russet sprint went seriously rusty on exhaust side and nearly failed MOT until I pointed out the phillips screws
to the ignorant tester...now has new tunnel also in bare metal.
I suspect production changed and late ones got the tunnel in before painting so it was all done...
Oh 1 T reg 1500 i know has a white one.

Its quite interesting to think of the production processes that led to lots of cars having a different colour tunnel and some (mostly OHC cars) not being painted at all. Perhaps the press shop just sent them down the line in batches and they were painted (or not) with whatever colour paint they happened to be using at the time? Later cars still seem to have (in my experience) a mis-matched tunnel and the fasteners and rubber seal are seldom painted-over so I don't think the tunnels were painted on the car.
Or maybe I need to get out more...

Maybe they used whatever spare or excess paint was around at the time? ......if there wasn't any, they didn't get painted

V reg, carmine body, creamy tunnel (seems lighter than sandglow). Presume it to be original as it is getting past it at the exhaust side edge!
T'other car didn't have one at all (was fwd) and I cannot remember what colour I've fitted to it, although I *think* it came from a lateish 1300 that was shot, and it IS painted...

I guess that some were loosely bolted onto cars as they went through the paintshop, then afterwards taken off and put in a pile. Later down the line the assembler just grabbed the nearest one to hand and bolted it on, regardless of colour!
