Track day

The cost of hiring a circuit will be at least £6,000 & that is just the circuit hire. Mallory Park is the cheapest, which means you need at least 40 drivers @ £150-00 each just to pay for the track. I have organised 2 track days at Mallory Park for the CTCRC & we lost a lot of money on the second one. The Best thing to do is get in with other car clubs & do a joint track day or take some space at Goldtrack or some other organiser. The Rover SD1 club have also talked about running a track day. I would be happy to assist in the organisation of it But you will need ideally 60 drivers to make it viable.

Ken, if I've correctly understood the info in the link that Mart posted at the start of this thread we're talking about fairly small circuits or in some cases disused airfields. More an environment to stretch the cars legs a little than get involved in real racing etc... They're talking about £100-120 per person although I don't know how many cars they'd need to make the day viable.
If it comes off I think it'll be a good day but if all else fails maybe we could just do some laps of Bluewater carpark one evening like the local saxo brigade!

Thanks Ken. I looked into hiring "Proper" circuits last year & I think I found Anglesey to be the cheapest (a bit far from everyone though) and you're right, it would take between 40-60 entrants to break even.
What I was thinking was to book with Motorsport events early enough to get us all at the same venue. Their prices range between £109-£119 per driver and an extra £10 for subsequent drivers.
Just had my entry form for the TR track day @ Mallory in March.

A track day is not racing, anyone caught 'racing' on a track day would be excluded, likewise anybody 'caught' timing a car on a track day would be excluded. If you are talking of am impromptu driving event whereby you can drive your car quickly around a disused air field or similiar I may be able to help you there. Bruntingthorpe can be hired for this type of event but they are very strict on noise as are most disused airfields now. S'funny no one complained when they were used airfield
You can go to Bruntingthorpe as an individual & rent the circuit for £50 + VAT per car per hour.
Racing is far more expensive

Thanks for the info Ken - I'm new to all this and I'm happy to go with the flow. Track, airfield, M1... wherever we can all get together and be overtaken by ALG1K

I have been to brunters Quite a few times now at least 20
Its very dirty and your car can become quite shotblasted by the end of the day
The last time i went which was only a few weeks ago i was asked to refrain from using my throttle, They are VERY strict on noise now
Get the Vulcan running again

Hang on a mo. They are really strict on car noise, but the Vulcan bomber, which is quite possibly the loudest plane I have EVER heard, is allowed to do full throttle runs? Hardly fair.
Perhaps if you attach some wings...

Hi Mart, I'm probably going to the all Triumph track day in March
as I've got a new engine to test. It's £120 and they don't ask for membership.

Hi Bob, I will be there hopefully, that's if the Sprint is still going after the Silverstone track day on the 12th.
What have you done to the new engine?

I hope so. By the way, your excellent piece of film from CC
was it filmed at quarry corner?
