Last year it was Ledbury (not in Wales), Hereford, Leominster (still not in Wales) Hay on Wye, overnight at Llantony Priory, Brecon for Sunday lunch, Abergavenny and home. The only fixed point really is LP overnight; a magical place I've been going to for over 26 years since accidentally finding it whilst walking the Offa Dyke footpath.

There is an option to camp at LP; last year it was quite chill when the real ale effect wore off!

We had 6 Dolomites for lunch on the Sunday last year

Hi Guys

I've just made an answer to a a meet in North Wales , where a change of the weather yet gain has an influence .
I have now seen this that would be of interest for me , Yet I cannot get my head quite round it ... End of Feb !!?-- actually & technically one of the coldest months of the year , when there is a good chance ..of snow ..& roads of grit & assorted damaging salt based compounds to have effect on our old cars ...
Why ?
Surley if one cherishes the mark / our old faithfull's - why put them to such & spend the next days undoing the potential body damage ?

I am just asking in all innocence, As I am under the impression that for the longivity it best to keep the cars well away from the grit/salt enviroment on these winter months, & I am certainly not questioning anyones love/knowledge or appreciation of these cars ...
I just don't see the logic of putting them to the very thing that even as new , could make them rot as quickly as sugar dissolves in warm water !!

Perhaps I am over protective , tell me if you think I am ..but I see it best place for my sprint between Nov- to End March is tucked up in the gararge.. Then use & drive her well through spring/summer & autumn.

Most of the cars that took part last year are I believe daily drives for the owners. Whilst it was cold during the night, the days were fine and sunny spring days and I doubt we encountered any salt whatsoever.

I get round that by sticking it up on ramps and washing the underside youd be suprised how well that simple act preserves a car

Hello all,
The only salt encountered by me last year was on the well cooked portion of chips I invested in whilst waiting for the other five dollies to turn up. Last year I only turned up on the Sunday but have been discussing the whole weekend with her in drawers and as long as there's no camping involved we could well be there. Tuck up the sprint in the garage? No way mine gets 60 miles a day to work and back unless the sun's out and I jump on the monster (which is generally tucked up).
Regards
Jason.

I can understand the owner of a trailer queen not wanting to subject it to grit or salt, but there's more harm done by not using a car at least semi-regularly than by exposing it to a little salt and washing underneath properly afterwards.
Here, the first few miles of road out of the village to anywhere else are treated with black ash which, although not corrosive in itself, can blast off any loose underbody protection so that, after those few miles when I'm back on salted roads again, the nasty stuff could get at steel that's protected only by epoxy primer as per the factory finish.

But by making sure that the various chemicals used to protect are maintained to their maximum effect and washing the bits that aren't visible very thoroughly, I have managed to cover 20,800 miles in the last 16 Months in the car shown in my signature strip, which remains as rust-free now as he was when I bought him. That in spite of two North East Winters and the snow that comes with them.
OK, so I won't be winning any concours d'état prizes, but neither will I spend too much time dealing with seized brake adjusters, sticking wheel cylinders and calliper pistons or replacing dampers whose rods have corroded as a result of lack of movement.

Get those Dolomites out there and enjoy them, we can all protect them now in a far more effective way than BL did in the '70s.

Hello all,
I had also forgotten about that little event on Friday night,it does leave the rest of the weekend free to drive dollies and not bother about any other rugby that might be on. If you do drive to Cardiff mr 16 valve I live 7 miles north of there, pop in for a brew.
Regards
Jason.

8)

gloria could do it, although id like to insert some level of interior prior to departure. the stop-over may be an issue but could do a day trip probably...

tentative yes but real life issues have a habit of getting in the way so unconfirmed... families and all that...

no rear seat belts (i gave them away), and no rear seat currently actually, i just cant find the right tool to fit the cushion properly... :?

and also i'd need stiffer rear springs as the uprated ones already on have allowed tyres to foul on the odd occasion.

loaded with extra passenger weight i think the tyre walls would take some abuse, and nobody likes that.

plus my wife is not a fan of triumphing, my 3 yr old likes 'daddy's old car' but thinks its 'very noisy'...

I will be there in the 1300 if by then it has some sills. Should do as ive got reading week next week i.e. weld your car and forget uni for a week week, :D. If its not ready I will still be there under rubberband power. Both of my cars are quite and have comfy seats if anyone wants a lift.
