Standard Triumph Marque Day - Prescott Hill 23 May 2010
Re: Standard Triumph Marque Day - Prescott Hill 23 May 2010
We'll be going in our Sprint and Spit so will be a "TSSCTDC" presence.
I should do really....thats us in our Spit bottom right of the poster....and no I am not hanging on for grim death cos the wife's driving...boy did I cop it when that photo showed up.
I can't recommend this event highly enough and the TDC should support this with as large a presence as possible.
Camping available.
On Saturday there will be a run which you can join on the day and a BBQ on site in the late pm.
Sunday. You can buy tickets to get 2 runs and the cavalcade up the hill climb. You can also buy further hill climb tickets as you wish.
The cavalcade is another run as you hang back from the guy in front so there's plenty of room for a raz.
Not the cheapest of events (governed by the fees the Bugatti Club charge) but where else would you get 4-500 Standard/Triumphs in one place!
Great fun and it will be the first event we have had to meet TDC members so come and say hello.

I'd like to go to this; not sure what club car I will be in - I hope that it will be in my freshly-completed Toledo, which is coming on nicely...

OK,after a quick planning meeting with Nathan, there will be a convoy from Coventry.
Meet at 8:30 at the Styvechal Arms pub (at the A45 roundabout, by the BP station, and Peugeot dealers).
Take the A46 route down to Prescott, via Stratford,Evesham etc towards Cheltenham, reckon it'll take about an hour.
Hopefully arrive together, up to individuals if they wish to pre-book, book runs up the hill etc.
Confirmed so far are:
Me and KAC
Nathan and MWK
Mike G and Toby Nounced
I think Stuart (covcourier) is up for it, any body else, please post upon here.
I can't remember how many we took to Duxford last year, let's see if we can do more.
Finally, does this clash with the official TDC presence?

And apparently, we'll be the official TDC presence!
I'll arrange with Mike to get a banner and things, some membership forms, DM's,and a table to take with us.
If anyone would have room for a gazebo, we might take one with us........
And I'm not having checker plate rivetted on me!

Re: Standard Triumph Marque Day - Prescott Hill 23 May 2010
I just finished nights this morning, so decided to spend a leisurely afternoon tinkering with dolly in preparation for a blast or two up the hill.
I rebuilt the carbs with solid butterflies, new red jets and BBT needles.
Along with the electronic ignition, it now idles smoothly and pulls very strongly. For the first time it feels like a true Sprint should.
I'd forgotten just how much fun they were when they are on song. I still have a set of polly bushes and new shocks along with a water pump rebuild to do at some point. Not sure if these jobs will get done prior to the hill climb, but she will be entertaining whatever now, with her newfound power!
I plan to join the convoy from Coventry for this event. Not sure if I will have some friends with me or not. Lots of interest in this event but they all have uncertain work commitments. If there's space I'm happy to transport some of the stand stuff.
See you all there!
Tom.

Re: Standard Triumph Marque Day - Prescott Hill 23 May 2010
Phew, what a scorcher!
Just got back from Prescott, where a Coventry Convoy of 7 vehicles caused a little shock and disbeleif as it travelled down the A46 towards Cheltenham!
The convoy consisted of Nathan's 1300, Tom 16V's Sprint, Barry55's 1850, Mike Goldstraw's 1500HL, Stuart (Covcouriers) V8 Dolly, and 1850 , and of course KAC my 1300.
Arrival at Prescott was followed by the assembly of the Gazebo, and boiling of the kettle, followed by a look at the autojumble, and Triumphs doing "demonstration" runs up the hill.
Lunch was a very pleasant barbecue followed by more of the above!
Tom and Stuart both had runs up the hill, and the most famous quote of the day has to be attributed to Nathan, who as he handed his camera back to Tom were " Sorry mate, the battery went flat just before you appeared".
I'm guessing that there were in excess of 500 cars at the event, two notable ones being a white 1300 FWD, and a sienna 1500FWD, both being one owner from new cars!
For the run home, the convoy split into 2, the only issue I'm aware of on the way home was the modern car owners (specifically a Hyundai driver) who didn't realise how fast Triumphs can go, and pulled out in front of an overtaking 1300 without bothering to mirror, signal, manoeuver, and then couldn't understand the old fashioned hand signals that were used!
I didn't take any photos during the day, but I'm sure someone will post later!
Thanks to the drivers of all the cars, and the various passengers, including Fay, Dan, Jacquie, and the others whose names my 50 year old memory has forgotten for making it a very enjoyable, and relaxed day.

I echo the above from Bruce, truly a fantastic day and with brilliant weather, had some small issues with fuel starvation on the way home but was all fine if kept at a steady speed, don't think it liked 80ish
Thanks to all who made it a really good day, couldn't of asked for more!!
