If we put this info out on a few forums, I'd bet they'd be a bit surprised by the sales figures...
Not one bit surprissed, thats why they do these promotions so the word gets out and they sell all of the slow moving stuff (slow moving due to the RRP).

Conspicuous by its absence from the set; is an 11/16ths spanner, and Halfords don't sell individual AF ones

Just been to collect mine and whilst talking to the helpfull (young) sales guy who knew what a Dolomite is checked the promo price against the trade card price, result, it costs me £20
He also confirmed that dolomite upper but not lower ball joints were obtainable for £20.96 each (trade price) so i will be ordering a couple of sets next pay day.

Also ordered one of these sets - good work Doodleboink!

.............also, after this bargain, do Halfords still deserve their Halfrauds handle anymore?

When I worked there, 90% of the staff called it Halfrauds too... Might have been my influence though.

Get it right lads, its HELLFRAUDS.
The reason most tools are now reduced is simply because they have over stocked and need to get rid of slow moving higher priced items, these sets retail at £80, trade price is £20 and on that trdae price they are still making money!

Yes it certainly is! Mine arrived this Morning and, while the fact remains that these are good quality tools and well worth the pony (+p&p), they do not in fact come with the ratchet-free check that the £80 ones have, so the only edge they have is in the price.
Still
well worth £20(trade) £25(the rest of us) or £29.99(including postage), but a cheapened version of the revolutionary original.
I'm both chuffed to bits with them for what they are, and disappointed that they're not the silent ones with no minimum check angle.

Interesting that when I picked mine up the lady didn't believe me when I said they were £25. She scanned in the bar code and sure enough they came up as £25 whether reserved on-line or not. The price tag on the shelf was still £79.99. I also noticed that the 33 piece metric set was only £39.99!

Got mine today, even though it said not in stock on line last night. Tempted to get the £39.99 set as well, will leave it till next weekend, when the bank has a healthier balance.

When I first read this thread I wondered why you were all rushing to buy metric spanners...then I read it again after seeing 2 toledo's post about 11/16 being missing. On third reading it clicked, I ordered two sets, currently awaited; one for me, one as a gift to Steve Wilkes, welder extraordinaire, in return for the odd favour he obliges me with.
Hope mine are on the way beings they are now out of stock...

I'm told, by a bloke who works at my nearest branch of Halfords, that their original and revolutionary ratchet-free, silent check versions are still available, but not at £20 or anything like it.
That said, I've now used the 7/16" one from the noisy and
comparatively cumbersome set I received and have to admit to being more than slightly impressed by the way in which it managed to make short work of the much overdue task of getting right in about at the nuts that hold my carbs against the manifold.
Anyone who knows the Stromberg-equipped Dolomites will know how awkward their carbs can be to remove, manifold on
or off. But that spanner fitted right in there and it only took me ten minutes to replace both rubber gaskets, previously a slow job with the open end of a combi key, in and out, a couple of degrees at a time until the carbs were far enough clear to enter the ring end, then the inevitable backing off to centre the olives and get the - invariably trapped - ring out

to finish with the open end.
Thanks Halfords, I'm missing the whistle already!
