I would shift your raids away from Rimmers.
I get water pump kits from Fitchetts or Robsport who both do the seal without the graphite ring.

now ordered from robsport..... and new connector tube.
Do i have to lower the suspension to allow lifting the complete engine/gearbox out? And the exhaust downpipe???? Hope i can leave that on the manifold

It can be pulled out with the suspension still attached - but you'll need to lift the front of the car to get enough of an angle.
Many people prefer to remove the car from the subframe - lifting the body off of the suspension and then pulling the engine, gearbox and front axle clear from underneath.

Ok. I think i`m going to lift the front of the car then. I want to keep it on wheels.

Or you can pull the engine box and exhaust downpipe out together on a crane....
Just disconnect the propshaft and exhaust from the downpipe...and clutch slave from gearbox....just leave it dangling....speedo cable and various other little fiddly things like earth strap and starter cables...

as long as you stick to drinking the tuborg and not the laquer/thinners in the other bottles.
I enjoyed the hell outta doing he woodwork ! such a nice, simple, achievable job with awesome results at the end.
