It would be nice to know there whereabouts of the original engine, Ian has definately mentioned Isle of Wight before, presumbably you have note of the original engine number so it wouldn't be difficult to confirm.

I think Ian knows who has it, at least has the engine that the car had in it at one point.

Polly has already been in touch with the gentleman on the Isle of Wight who Ian mentioned to us. He was really helpful and is checking whether he may have it. Must admit I can't understand how it got to the Isle of Wight if it was in a scrapyard in Leicestershire in 2000.

The original engine number was VA6, so on these early cars it looks like the engine number and chassis number matched.

HI paul, Went to see the main guy at Podders today, and all he can recall is that he sold it for (possibly!) £120 to a guy who came quite a way for it, certainly not local - he was very particular about how they got it out !

- so it lives ...where...?

..I would say- judging by how fast I remember it, that its either in a private stealth racer somewher in the UK - or in an early car - only known to the owner, because of it's rarity/value?

Thanks very much, so there is a chance we might locate it somehow? Not sure where to go from here, but we will keep trying.

If anyone in the club has any leads on where this engine might be, PLEASE get in touch. We would be SOOOOO grateful.

No................

Not in every case.
I had a very early Sprint with the original running gear and none of its numbers coincided with the Commission Number.
Also, I know of another very early Sprint and its numbers are also different (but fairly close).

Ian.

You could try calling Graham the IoW TDC Rep, his number is in Dolly Mixture.

Update on work in progress. Engine out and engine bay cleaned (not with Mister Muscle I hasten to add - that is water and Fairy Liquid in the spray).
