2: Gaydon seemingly monopolising the catering with no food available except in their cafe, which being all the way around the back was at the limit of what an 86 year old could cope with, and then charging over £18 for two lunches of p155 poor pies and cold chips was disappointing to say the least
Agree with both of those. The catering was expensive yet terrible. And we were banished to the hill beyond the lake. But the sun shone.

What a great day. :D and the weather was fantastic too. Well done to all who helped make TDCIR 2013 a day to remember.

Mary & I arrived about nineish, Mary in her Smart toaster & me in the Track Sprint. I was surprised to see not only SFB on the TDC stand but also BFR was on the Club Triumph stand, both still looking very nice indeed. JYD would have been there as well but unfortunately failed it's MoT test.

It was great to catch up with everyone and to meet Jeroen at last (how was Legoland J?). Some lovely examples of our cars on show from standard to modified (I like both types). We liked how the boot trim was done in the Magenta Sprint, all carpeted, something Mary may do in the future.

I could go on but as I said, we had a great time.

A jolly good day out ! Thank you to all those that helped organise the event. It was much enjoyed by us. We found the 2nd cafe area and got a bacon roll, pie and chip , tea and coffee for £7. The mixture of bacon and coffee is one I've always enjoyed. A great display of cars. We admired the Carledo; a neat installation, and recognised many of the cars on here. Mart's rally car, SFB, KAC, DCV, FRW, OEC, WVF,SGC, & EWL. to name some of them. Had a good chat with Jeroen also, ( enjoy the rest of your holiday ) and with EWL registered just after my Sprint CWL from Hartwells of Oxford.
Rather disappointed with the flea market but it was good to see Rimmers there and meet the guys behind the phones. I'm just surprised that no other Triumph suppliers were there.
And the weather was good.
Have you ever seen 4 Dolomites together in less than a mile on the M40 ? Us, a Magenta one, a white one and KSF. How often does that occur these days ?

Same again next year ?

Cheers All,
Tony.

Hello, it was good to meet you all too only too short. My wife was very p155 off that she was not there with her Triumph and seeing a lot of 2500's didn't make her feel much better but all came good very soon. We had Legoland planned for Saturday and that went wrong. The auto driveplate did crack again........ So we left the car at Maidstone and got further in a rhd punto. Saturday we were at Legoland at 15.00h and decided not to go in for only 3 hours left and decided to go to Coventry where we would stay that night but not on the M and A way's but the B way's. I had to get used by driving rhd in rhd country. The last few weeks i was driving a rhd sprint in lhd land. The only thing was when i took a turn the wipers went on instead of the indicators. Then in a lhd Triumph to rhd land and then all the sudden rhd in rhd land.(with the indicators on the normal side) But all went ok.

Half a day Gaydon and half a day Legoland to please the kids.

Here some pics of a 10 year old boy who knows his cars and a 5 year old who enjoys the view.

OK, a half apology to STAR organisers, the Sprint 40th IS mentioned inside the brochure, I was about to recycle it in disgust and flicked through it prior to find the two paragraphs, but we weren't mentioned on the cover; surely the Sprint was a far more remarkable landmark date than the launch of the 2000???

I had an enjoyable time at the event. The weather was nice and it was nice to go round the museum again, even if the last Sprint was absent once again!

Still it was good to see so many cars and people enjoying them. I'd like to have seen a few more traders supporting the event but the reality is that it's probably not worth their time and expense. Still I had a good time, would have liked to have stayed for longer but work called at home.

Where next for TDCIR though? I still firmly believe tacking onto another event is the way forward but ideally needs to be a little more family friendly. Women and kids were few and far between at Gaydon and that is not necessarily good. Still lots of young faces and much evidence of enthusiasm for old cars.

Agree with both of those. The catering was expensive yet terrible. And we were banished to the hill beyond the lake. But the sun shone.
I ate at just before 12 due to the early start and had pie and chips. Admittedly it was pricey, but it was decent. I eat quite a lot of pies and that was a decent one. If you want a bad one, go to Goodison Park. Bad pastry, bad filling yuck.

I also had a pie at about the same time and agree, as a fellow pie conosseiur, I think it may have been a Pukka pie. My missus had the sausages and declared them surprisingly good too!
Personally I always expect food prices to be exorbitant at these sort of events, they have you by the short hairs and they know it!

On the other matter, I think the TDC is now being punished by event organisers since we refused to be shafted without complaint at the last restoration show!

Steve,
Sounds like a pie-oriented event for the Shropshire & Powys Area should be arranged!
Regards.

Yes, I think Pukka or maybe Wright's as an outside chance. For a major event, I didn't think the prices were bad. Take football match, you'll usually pay over £3 for a pie which you have to eat with a plastic fork. No seat, no proper cutlery, no crockery either. It's usually cold, underneath a stand which is filthy too.

Any pie oriented event is a winner! :D

If we hold TDCIR at Trentham we could have Pie Minister Pies, these are essentially Pie Royalty. Also on pies if anyone is in Portsmouth I suggest a visit to Pie and Vinyl. Imagine a record shop that also sells pies, does a shop get better than that? I don't think so.
