Set your engine to be at 10 BTDC which I think is the right point for a 1500...
Then see if you have currnt flowing in the low tension side...if you do its retarted. If not its advanced...
You may be able to tell if the unit has a light on. The light should go off when the spark would fire...
Failing that you can just undo the dizzy clamp bolt and take the king lead out of the dizzy cap...hold it near the head and twiddle the dizzy. WHen the spark jumps out of the king lead is where you want the dizzy to be...

All Done, now goes like a rocket! idle is still a little wavery which i can't seem to get better, i think it is running too rich, would changing the ignition do this to the carb system too?
