Tee wit tee whoo!
Here is a photo of a New Zealand equivalent of Mr Churchill’s puller! A 2 inch pipe socket, (well used in my case as witnessed by the pipe clamp marks!), welded to two suitable bits of plate and a large bolt!
I welded the bottom plate – the big one to the socket, spun it up in the lathe to make sure that the 2 inch hole which I cut in the plate with a hole saw was central and fitted over the hub nut and wheel flange hub, then drilled the four holes for the wheel studs. Welded a bit of plate on the other end plus a big nut and bolt (might have been one of my spare subframe bolts!!).
I have also got a piece of about 1 and a half inch angle iron which I have drilled to take two of the four wheel studs and which I can use to hold the rear axle assembly as I wind up the bolt on the hub puller. Same piece of angle iron has been drilled on one of the other faces to hold the flange on the back of the gearbox so that I could remove it and replace the seal.
All painted green to stop others “pinching” it for use elsewhere!
Might be awkward for someone to make without access to the right tools but one hell of a lot cheaper than what you folk suggest they are selling for.
