Seems that the enterprising soul was on holiday that week, I do have the 3/8" original studs!
You are of course right, the later studs were fitted for good reason, but I must admit to finding no cheaper sets of the 7/16" nuts either, mind you that's not saying a lot, as I haven't even remotely scratched the surface of the list of sources and knowledge gained over many years of ownership by so many on here.
Heard back from Chris Witor today, he's going to put them up on his site next week and he's looking for £4.20 each in black steel.

I have searching for the same thing and I did find that Quiller Triumph list new sprint wheel nuts of 3/8 and 7/16ths on their web site but when I phoned yesterday I spoke to some dopey soul who said they didn't have any and didn't know when they would have some, their price was very competative at £3.85 new or £2.25 for second hand 3/8

Maybe Jonners has a point, they emailed me this afternoon saying they had used alloy ones for £4 each, or new steel for £4.50, how odd, maybe it's a case of who you get to speak to?
Courtesy of Dave (Toledo Man) I will shortly be able to get the original wheels back on. The first British production car with alloys deserves to have it's original wheels I think.

I always thought on Sprint alloys you had to have the alloys wheel nuts.

I could be wrong, but I think the only criteria is that they are sleeved and have a flat surface rather than being tapered.

In my case, it was the 3/8ths steel stud that snapped, not the alloy nut that stripped. That was a suprise to me though.
