Gentlemen,
Thank you for your advice and suggestions.
Just as soon as I have the enthusiasm to get involved with the car again, (I feel a bit deflated about this car presently) and as soon as I have the finances to buy and import parts, I'll post how things are going with it.
Again, my thanks to you all for taking the time to answer.
Cheers,
Rob

looking at the shine on that paint I'd say you have plenty of enthusiasm. Keep us posted and think positive :)

^^^ This!

You can't look at that picture and be deflated, it's impossible! Sure it's pushing back a bit on you, but it's all part of the fun, it's the blood, sweat and tears that makes it your car after all.

That's a beautiful car. I realise it's probably simply the polish and the depth of the shine, but the paint looks metallic green in the photo. Stunning!

Thanks again Gents,

Yes, I realize I'll regain the passion for this thing. I'm already headed down that path actually. I had some encouraging words from my best mate this morning. He's a tractor mechanic and when we went through my list of problems, he just looked at me and asked "so whats the problem?" He's an ex-Copper too (water police), seen some horrendous things in his life, but he's always "upbeat" and its always good to be around him because his positivity is catching.

Pippin, the reason the car looks metallic green is because it is. Its a Jaguar colour.
This was one of the 620 cars that Leyland Australia imported in '75-'76. ALL of them were Mimosa.
I wouldn't be allowed to own it if it was still original paint. The "Leader of the Opposition", my wife, detests yellow cars.

Thanks again for the encouraging words, and I'm glad you like my Sprint. I've attached a pic of the interior too, which will show you that a previous owner really spent some time (and money) on this car.....about 15 years ago. It has a Moto Lita wheel now too. (A present from wife, who'da thought)

Cheers,
Rob

Love that interior, I've only ever seen black and wood generally, looks immaculate.

So have most of the rest of us.....

Looks fantastic. Seems to be lasting well too despite the strong Aussie sunshine...

Shows what BL could have done going forward with a bit more imagination.

Firstly my apologies for bringing up this thread again.
Secondly, but most importantly, my thanks to all of you who have offered advice and suggestions and thereby contributing to the sorting of my Sprint.
Recently I've attended to bad earths, transmission judders, harshness, sourcing and replacement of the steering rack, deleting several steering column rattles, a timing chain tensioner replacement, and a brake overhaul.
For each and every one of these problems I asked questions on this forum and received great advice. Consequently, I'm pleased to say that the car now drives absolutely fantastically. Its like a new Sprint.
I've been busy sorting it out prior to a 1,500kms trip my wife and I are planning to make to visit friends in Victoria during the Easter break.
They're MG/Landrover people and I really want my Sprint to be spot on in order for it to hold its own in that company as well as to provide us with a safe and uneventful trip.
Once again Gents,
Thank You.
Cheers,
Rob

Too right,
Porsche and Ford both made cars that the dash panels cracked and broke up in the sun.
Yes it's plastic, but good plastic
