Somebody somewhere must have one.

Do we know anyone who has tooling to scan a N/S panel and reverse in a computer to make a
3d printing template ? (just thinking of possibilities)

I welcome the efforts but I would be doubtful that such a panel would be that good on a road car. There's simply too much rigidity in a steel panel (assuming it's not full of rust) to replace with GRP. For track and racing cars with a cage though I would have though this would be a good idea. They have greater rigidity if a cage is fitted. I can't see that using an adhesive or bolts would be as strong as steel welds.

Thanks Alun!

So, first we need to find the Roc's egg, then finance and make up a mould (this is only money, so the simplest part) I am willing to use my Sprint as the test vehicle (the arch and underskirt and part of the D pillar are all pretty shot so it's fair game and I also have a good useable steel rear corner I can put on if it goes t*ts up)

I must have a word with Tony Fitchett re the NOS panel. I know he says he hasn't got any, but he does sometimes keep the last one of anything back, just in case......

I have done some ringing around today and I can't find one.

This may sound like a stupid question but can we cut one off a car?

You would need an excellent example, which counts mine out, Carmine ?

I'll go scrutinise the one at the panel man's place.

The problem with s/h is the lips are usually compromised. The problem with scanning a NS one is it would be difficult to lose all register where the filler cap hole is.

The design inspiration line was aimed at Mahesh's self deprecation!

Yet another thought,

There may be more of a chance that a decent nos panel is available outside of the UK, say Australia or another more rust resilient country.

I have been trying to source an off side wing and had contacted someone over this the response seemed to indicate it was possible but was priced at £1200 each scan. I have had no reply to confirm if this is plus VAT

OSR wing located.

Will need a fair bit of work to prepare it and get it to satisfactory 'plug' quality and before anyone asks, the owner has stated no, it is not available for sale, not at any price but they are willing to lend it to me for the purposes of getting a mould made.

So, apart from Maidstonerob and Carledo, what demand might there be if a GRP rear wing were available?

One for me but the order comes with strings attached..........
There would have to be a detailed step by step idiot's guide (and I really do mean idiot - it would be me doing the cutting and fitting) on how to go about fitting the new wing, with detailed pictures.

You can provisionally put one aside for me as well.

Just a thought but as there is a chrome trim that goes along the base of the D-Post terminating the GRP behind it would help to lose any line. It may be possible for a little tab on the GRP wing to tuck behind the metal of the D-Post to help support it at the join. This would take out some of the loss of strength and ensure the trim that rises up the back of the DPost would still be the standard fit.

The D -Post itself must be one of the last places to rust on a Dolly and the manufacture of the GRP wing would likely be easier as well

I have done exactly that ,
I moulded my wings on the car ,
Using fibreglass on the door shut lip would make it very thin and weak ,
I used Kevlar in this area ,
To be fair a carbon wing layered correctly is structurally stronger than steel ,
Fibreglass would have to be very thick ,

Will this work? If the panel is going upto the roof isn't it replacing half of a box section which supports the roof?

I am not against GPR, the GPR frontend on my car has worked well, but even though the front wings and valence were welded they do seem less structural than the rear wing.
