The factory TR7 Sprints did, indeed, wear such a thing, and that's exactly why I want one. The carb set-up also differed in using the TR7 throttle linkage, so the throttle spindle was different from both Sprint and TR7.

Incidentally, why does the sprint have that non-linear cam arangment in the throttle linkage and the TR7 not?

For completeness

Up to VA6368 had AUD545s
From VA6369 to VA11216 had AUD661s
From VA11217 to VA15988 had AUD680s

Since completeness is appreciated you might want to know that engine VA15042HE sits in our 1973 Sprint and has AUD633's.
I can't find this reference anywhere, however the Haynes SU Manual lists 663's as used in 1976 only, before the waxstats. (maybe a typo? Almost overlooked it!)

Off course it can't be excluded that the previous owner has switched carburettors at a given moment, especially because the build dates you mention

I don't know more about this car except that it was blue, but I do have its instrument panel in the spares. It sports a hazard light and rear window heating switch of the push/pull type and a fasten-belt light. Maybe this might help someone more knowledgeable confirming the dates?
