I won't be at Santa Pod. I've done a bit of drag racing before, both vehicles at much faster times than I expect out of the Dolomite (14.9 and 13.4).
We'll see how she does. I'll definitely post times though. I was hoping low 18s/high 17s but I am continually proved wrong by drag racing (one of the reasons I absolutely love it).

My zetec spit managed a 14.9 this year, but then went for mapping the next day (it had a safe and rather clumsy map loaded, everything a bit rich as I didn't want to melt a piston. Easily done with efi)
I did manage to break the "indestructible" subaru diff setup. At least, shear a mounting lug on the 6mm steel mounting plate. But it was only noticed when I investigated the slight lurching in corners. Luckily after the even all the driving was sedate motorway stuff.
Those starts, and am no expert, or even novice, just a total amateur, are very hard on the cars.

My 14.9 was out of a 2 tonne saloon

Something rather more powerful than my car then. Guessing 350bhp or more....

The 2 ton+ 1961 Ford Galaxie that I used to run in the late 70s ran 12s, but that had close to 420bhp on tap!
I would love to get the Carledo down to mid 14s. It's more a financial thing, affording the remap!!!! With the mods I have done to the motor, it should really give considerably more than it's current 130ish bhp, but the stock SRi map is holding it back.

I'd love to have seen your Galaxie run. Sounds a monster.
The banging has returned. I'll check the engine mounts again on the ramp today but I'm guessing no racing for me this weekend. Joy of joys. At least I get to give her a decent service anyway and I may trundle down to the strip as a spectator.
Can anyone confirm 1500 engine mounts definitely go lower side body and upper side engine? Thanks in advance. I get paid tomorrow too so might be an idea to join the club.
