The seller (in Barcelona) [url=https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_odkw ... h&_sacat=0].......
I have a nos front driver's side quarter light seal, advertised on here some time ago for £70, no takers. As soon as I can get organised with photo's, postage etc I'll be putting it and some other items on ebay.
I'd be interested in what you got, is it nearside or offside seal you have for quarter light.

Any drivers side chrome trim?

It might be easier to find some good used complete units then you won't have the faff of replacing the seals on their own.

You could buy a newly made Triumph 2000 one at £48, cut it down to the right size and glue it back together in situ. (Might have given my own plan away!)

Yes, I was thinking that - but what's this about some rivet that's difficult to get to refit.....

Wouldn't need to worry about the rivet if you cut the seal and glue it.

I'm guessing the rivet is 557222 which is the top hinge pivot, though there is also a blind rivet hidden away on the frame.

I rather fancy the rivet assembly is the 3 part combo comprising HUO504, WLO205 and WPO156, shown centre right of the diagram, though I can find no description of these parts in the text.

The drawing is needlessly complex and not very accurate, the 1/4 light assembly is much simpler when you have it in your hand!

The seller (in Barcelona) has quite a few other bits, including a brand new front inner valence, but is also aware of the scarcity of some parts with a list price of £410 including postage for that valence.
Someone bought the 1/4 seal.

Hi
I am putting my 1850HL back together after its respray,
I have new seals for the front quarter windows,
Just wondering the best way to remove the glass to fit it.
There is a rivet which forms the top hinge but this is unavailable,
Then there are two rivets either side of the pop rivet that fixes to the door frame.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Darrell

Hi Darrell, Removing the door quarterlight glass is quite involved, from memory it requires a complete strip down, removing door trim, winding mechanism, and glass before drilling out the two pop rivets hidden in the door rubber channel at the top, this then allows the quarter light assembly which includes one side of the main glass channel, to be angled and removed. It is quite well detailed in the dolomite workshop manual if you have one.
Once you have the assembly out one method is to cut the new rubber where it has a hole for the bottom pivot to avoid removing the no longer available rivet on the top pivot. I had to remove these when I did mine as the bottom end was so rotten. I used chicago nails to replace this rivet. they are available in varying sizes / finishes and are cheap!. They are not nails as the name suggests but are brass leather craft screw rivets. I mounted the female side so it was at the top and looked like the original. I had to shorten the boss to match the depth a couple of mm and then put the male screw in from underneath to hide the screw slot and used thread lock to stop it working loose. Reassembly as they say is a reverse of the process, accompanied by swearing. The two rivets at the top are standard available sizes.
I attach a link to the nails - but there are many to choose from on Ebay.
Good luck
Chris

Thanks Chris

I have the unit out already as it has had a full strip down respray.
The passenger side frame is quite good so I think I will use your cut and stick idea on that one,
The drivers frame is pretty rotten at the lower edge so will have to remove the rivet to repair.
The belt screw is a great idea.

Thanks again
Darrell

The quarter windows leak badly on my car too, so this is an interesting job for me. Rimmers say that they should have new sealing rubbers in soon and I have asked them to let me know when. The brass belt screw is a brilliant idea. Thanks.

Hi Chris
You said you had to take yours out as the bottom was rotten,
What did you use to repair them? As my O/S is very bad, the N/S however is very good!
Thanks
Darrell

Ps
Mike, the club have made some new rubbers, be quicker than waiting for Rimmers.

Mick Dolphin has at least one complete o/s Quarterlight assembly with Sundym glass (821050) and some others of both sides with clear (810301/2) These are NOS so come complete with new seals, solid frames and the plastic pivot intact!

One of the n/s/clear ones (810301) has my name on it! If you are careful and lucky you can swap just the glass over!

Hi Mike,
I had the reverse problem n/s severe corrosion o/s ok but plastic pivot u/s. I bought some secondhand units that also had problems and cannibalised these for parts - ending up with two good units.
I still have one o/s unit in reasonable condition with seal but minus glass and good pivot, plus some remmnants of two others.
You are welcome to them foc if you want. I`m in Cirencester but can meet up whilst going for exercise if your not too far away.
regards
Chris
