A few years ago I was very fortunate to purchase a complete new old stock dash set and can say they match perfectly with the 74 brochure pics. Unfortunately my cappings are no where near so that’s something I may have to live with or send them to the experts like Murdo has done.
Being a car made in 74 it just looks so right.
Which dash wood to use?

Re: Which dash wood to use?
Can I ask, did Chapman & Cliff round the champhers off the door caps, or were later ones different from the ones I have? They are really quite a flat surface between the veneered front and un-veneered top. Yours look to be quite rounded.

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

I think maybe the lacquer finish and the camera flash is giving a much more rounded impression than's actually the case.GrahamFountain wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:53 am Can I ask, did Chapman & Cliff round the champhers off the door caps, or were later ones different from the ones I have? Here's a photo of them beforehand, you'll notice they're veneered from top to bottom too, which wasn't always the case.

Ah, does look like they're much more rounded in the after than in the before pictures. But if that's a camera effect, fair enough.RSi wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 9:09 amI think maybe the lacquer finish and the camera flash is giving a much more rounded impression than's actually the case.GrahamFountain wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:53 am Can I ask, did Chapman & Cliff round the champhers off the door caps, or were later ones different from the ones I have? That answers a question from before, whether some were fully veneered like I thought I'd seen. As I said then, I found one with no veneer at all, which I think is a very late one.
Does seem like most only had veneer on the front face that doesn't match well with the carcass when rubbed down and re-varnished. Good job I'm not bothered about that aspect.

I don't think I've seen any two cars with identical looking cappings.GrahamFountain wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 4:03 pmAh, does look like they're much more rounded in the after than in the before pictures.
