Hi Peter, To use a Lucas "DLB series" 3 ohm coil on the Sprint you will need to modify the wiring to disable the ballast circuit I'm afraid.
It goes like this.
Remove the old coil H.T. lead and the 2 L.T. leads noting which goes to "+" and which to "-" .
Unbolt the coil and replace with the new one.
Replace the H.T. lead and the wires on the "-" terminal.
Tape back the wire(s) that were on the "+" terminal.
Run a new wire from the coil "+" terminal to the terminal on the fuse box that the White wires go to. This wire should be of 10A rating and have properly soldered or crimped blade connectors.
If a radio-interference suppression capacitor was fitted to the old coil "+" refit it to the new coil "+" terminal.
HTH,
Tony.
