yea they were really fun to drive as new cars especialy as there wasn't much around that could go like them except obviously the more exotic machinery but the trim level was very good for the 70s and i think most people were very suprised how quick they were (and still are)

Richard,

Any chance you could tell us the serial number of the carbs please? It should be on a tag attached to one float chamber screw on each carb. This sounds like a great set up for everyday use. If you're feeling really keen you could whip the needles out and tell us the code on them too!

David:

Yes. I will do that later today.
It's a bit frosty out there right now. But it is supposed to hit around 50 degrees today, so later in the day I will have a look.

Cheers,
Richard

Richard,

Any chance of those carb serial numbers? It must be even colder out there now!

Yes its very cold over here today, was 19F this am on the way to work with the windchill it feels like 2F. I have 50% of the radiator blocked with a cerial box and my big old cibbies strapped to the front and the temp still only gets upto 1/4 on the gauge. I tend to find the biggest lorry I can and sit on its rear bumper to cut down the airflow even more. Its probably even colder where Richard is!

time to take the dolly off the road for the winter I think, not looking forward to driving the Protege for the winter though, most uninspiring :(

Cheers

Those are the standard Sprint carbs, non Waxstadt, on NGE with BDQ needles.

That's weird Richard. I was convinced you had 2" SUs on that car, so I was trying to find which needles and jet size they had. Don't know where I got that idea from?

I do have a set of two inchers, but they are not on that car. I plan to use them on my TR7 Sprint. That one has a manifiold opened up to accept the HS8s.

But I have to say that I never would hjave believed a properly set up set of of HS6s could work so well.

Perhaps it has to do with the car being set up on a rolling road. Maybe that makes the difference.
