If you don't align the Jackshaft correctly then you won't get the dizzy adjuster bolts near the centre of the slot, it will be towards one end or the other. Lift the dizzy out & turn it one tooth & it will be at the other end. You need to set it up correctly to give you maximum adjustment both ways.

Just use the sequence in the Haynes manual, but use 58 ft lbs (78 Nm) as the last torque figure.

Im at this stage too.

Is it the done thing to have the curved guide tight up against chain removing as much slack as poss? ( ie chain running straight off of jackshaft and straight up against guide?)
And then finally relaeasing tensioner?

Hope you get what i mean!?

Yes, once you've got the cam & crankshaft where you want them (or should I say, where they should be), push the curved guide against the chain & tighten the 4 bolts up. Then you can release the tensioner. Don't forget to remove the bottom one of the 4 bolts other wise the timing cover won't go on.

As Mart says, except that I don't make the chain too tight with the curved guide so that you can tell if the tensioner has popped out. I had a non-tensioning tensioner last year that lunched itself and the chain because it never sprung out when pushed in.

So you want the tensioner as tight as you can get it but so its not in the first slot?
