Today I just been seeing Minor 1000s....

These two together in the same car park;



I don't think they were together as later as I went past there was only one.

...and then later this one;



Which must of been one of the very last to be on a J plate? Unusual colour too.

Looks like Rose Taupe to me, a sort of Cowley equivalent of Triumph Sienna. Common as muck these Minors, aren't they.

And saw this A40 yesterday....

interesting to note that the A40 has a blanking grommet on the passenegr side for left hand drive windsreen wipers. I thought this blanking of holes was a more recent feature, sort of late 80s etc. Certainly the later minis had two sets of holes for the wipers and keen restorers of the mini have the surplus holes welded up.

Good point, I seem to remember the MiniMetro had the same (I think).

Good point, I seem to remember the MiniMetro had the same (I think).

Yeah they could just do what Triumph did with the dolomites and fit them the wrong way.

Marinas and Dolomites had wipers that appeared to be the "wrong" way but the LHD cars had them working the other way, something to do with lift, rather than swept area I believe.

I don't think the right hand one is a 1000. 803 more like. Of course it could have anything up to 1275 in practice, depending on the owner. They both look like "age related" reg jobs as well.

I thought it was still to do with coverage- with a "letterbox" aspect ratio screen, a wiper short enough to fit the screen swinging only 90 degrees on the driver's side would need another two to do a reasonable job of the rest of the screen. The different arcs (esp on big Farinas) had something to do with this.

Now I saw a rare one last night ! Remember the Volvo Amazon ? I saw a nice red on on the A327 near Farnborough. It was getting dark so no photo. But its really good to see people using their cars. The Amazon is rare enough at the shows let alone on the road. Well Done who ever you are.

Just come back for a very nice ride in the Triumph (posting local Christmas cards ). One part of the journey involved following a Jaguar D Type (replica I am guessing), sounded lovely!

Possibly the only car I'd seriously consider chopping the Dolly in for...

1954 Sunbeam Talbot 90, at what was RAF Tilstock, North Shropshire. It'll polish out.

I was taken to do shopping today. But there was a good cup of coffee; an excellent Cornish Pasty for lunch and on the B3018 we saw a Mark 1(?) Ford Zodiac Estate in a nice duo-tone cream and Damson colours. I think this may have been one of the rare Farnham conversions that I remember reading about. And it was wave-wave all round And in Fleet town centre an original bright red 1970 Mini Cooper on an "H" plate. Lovely sounding exhaust. I really must carry an instant piccy camera for some of these.
