My car has decided it wants to be a fountain, stupid inlet manifold o rings, whose idea was that?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.
Isabel the Daf who failed her MOT in March 2011 thanks to Teenager abuse, and has been outside rotting since, has just been collected by some guys from Norfolk who will be getting her back to the road as a charity draw prize.
They're a little braver than I am, but it's given me a warm & fuzzy feeling to know that she'll live again, and in a good cause! May even buy a few tickets and try to win her back just to annoy the previous owner
Borrowed a colortune. Set the front carb, lovely bunsen blue colour idling at around 800. Excellent.
Go to set the rear, awkward to fit it as the turret is in the way, gently persevere so as to not break it, go to start car, bursts into life with a blip of the throttle.
Starts to settle to idle, crack, blurb, normal, crack, blurb, normal... Tracking against the cylinder head from the colourtune lead.
Attempt to cover lead in insulation tape, burn hand, still tracks.
Gaffer tape. Still tracks. Tape against the block as well, still tracks.
Give up with colortune, put it back in the box, attempt to start car.
Straight to idle, lovely, blip the throttle, BANG BANG BANG, spitting out of both carbs.
Hmmf. Alloy carb mounts and a gasket set soon to be ordered then.
Goodbye sanity.

There comes a point on an election night when you realise that you've invested too much time already to go to bed. Fortunately I've not yet reached that point. Goodnight!
I've just completed something of a milestone event in my life. For the first time in something like 20 years I have worked on one of my cars inside a garage. Just an alternator change and I needed the doors open most of the time while I checked voltages and so forth but even so. Roof over head, light over head & no wind. Heaven.
Just made my 1000th post on this Forum in only 15 months!
Maybe I should get a life!
