I did that with my very first Triumph (Sienna Brown with a Ford gold colour for the stripe). I thought it looked quite cool. Gotta be the right colour though, otherwise it will look a bit naff - just my opinion.

Its hard to know what colour would look good until its actually on there,then the wheel colour would have to match too, black,with a silver stripe might look good, i've seen a mk1 cortina white with a blue stripe, another black car with a white/light cream stripe too, there is a orange dolomite with a black stripe and acc which i think looks good too.
Again,anything on a car seems a matter of opinion so whatever floats peoples boats i guess its up to them,even if i have laughed at some stuff done to cars, doesn't mean im the authority, just mostly.lol


Forgot to say before i final primed the whole car i zinc primed any bits of bare metal that was left.

Does anyone remember the Wood & Pickett-modified Sprint that appeared for sale a while ago in the RoI? That was Tahiti or Pageant, with a gold stripe in the areas seen without guide coat on the pic. The idea of creating a 2-tone like that, regardless of the contrasting colour ultimately chosen, seemed to lengthen the car in a virtual way.

A Black car would, in my opinion, suit a silver stripe, in the style of this Chrysler Sunbeam-Lotus thing:

Primed!!!!!!

So, what would everyone say was the best engine oil for the standard sprint engine, and clutch/brake fluid? I have a haynes book for it but i guess alot has changed in tech since then so i thought it best to ask on here.

Also i read somewhere that having twin brake calipers on the front does no good unless the servo is changed to a bigger one to cope with the extra amount of brake pistons.?

Anybody have any knowledge about these things?

I can't really see how two calipers would be of much benefit, I supposed it'd give you more pad area so there's be less heat per pad. A fair bit of extra weight though and probably a lot less air getting to the brakes to cool them (Dolomite brakes stop the car very well, but not many times before they overheat) Trackerjack's sierra caliper/golf disc conversion is probably a better idea.

I tend to use Halfrauds Classic oil (20w50 IIRC). Others swear by Penrite or Comma. The Trackerjack brake conversion is a good thing, I don't have it myself, but lots of happy folk have.

The silver stripe looks good on the Sunbeam, I suppose some sort of fade to a solid might be quite good too. I like the SE stripes, they would be quite cool. Maybe substitute 'SE' for 'Sprint' somehow.

I might get the halfords oil then, i've got the spin on conversion type and currently have a hof 200 oil filter so i guess il get the both in halfords. cheers Ken

Was thinking of the Lotus style black and silver as well, like the Top Gear Lada.


Double calipers - keep them as they sound cool when you tell people, they do stop it very well (brake disc surface area has a MASSIVE effect on the braking distance as I remember from a painful Uni project on disc braking systems!). I think the servo may already be upgraded, it defo had writing on it from a motor breakers making me think someone had sourced a presumably bigger replacement for it. Also after 3 hours on the track I got no fade whilst the Porsche's were limping off!

Carmine and silver also work well on the same basis of the green car, there were at least two done in that fashion

Went for jet black in the end and i'm really happy with it, the black and chrome really work together.

Im very happy with the car at the mo its looking nice after all the work i've done on it.
