The rot there is very similar to what I had to deal with maybe not as bad. It took me 1/2 a day to do that bit.

If you can do that is 1/2day then your in the wrong trade!!!

3 months it took me to cut all the rot out, treat the metal (which takes 2 hours on its own to cure) make the plates and weld it in, seal everything in, prep the wing, weld that on, more prep on the wing then paint!!

1/2 a day is not possible!!

I think Paul meant the welding, not 'everything'

The main patches are now made. Just need to be cleaned up and painted in weld thru primer.

Too hot to do anything at the weekend, so I went to the garage this afternoon and fabricated the curved shelf-like panel that sits on top of the reinforcer panel.

Just need to clean up the rest of the steelwork, trim away a bit more of the grotty stuff, more trial fitting of the repair sections and adjust as necessary, then let the weldathon commence.

Sadly a Tolly rear light will not fit a FWD without the face of the panel being brought forward. The Tolly light unit is a touch too long. Darn.

Due to Project Grey, this one will most likely be parted for spares.

I would love to keep her as a future project given the work done so far but storage is the problem.

Anyone fancy transporting it to Jonners storage place FOC for a good cause?   London to Devon isn't that far.... ummm.

Just caught up with this thread and there may be hope yet for the white one which I guess answers my question about what to do about the storage shed i was offered!

That's crafty, Justyn - following on from an off-topic using another thread

Still, if it does end up saving another car, I'm sure the Forum Gods will be forgiving :P

Didn't see anything in the samll print about continuation on another unrelated thread and having just spoken to my lawyer he says that under the constiuitional rights of forum topics 1996 ammended subsection 165-4r it is forseen that an off topic subject may be posted on a different unrelated thread without reprisal or punishmnet as long as section 225 is adhered to.

Little white/black/white FWD has appeared at a workshoppe near you today as it happens. If you find 3 headlight pods in the car, the damson one is mine. It fancied a trip down south (if it is actually there).

I will send the keys to you once I remember where I put them.

Keys would be good, car magically appeared today (cheers covcarmoving guy) New wing is on temporarlly with rivets, the bonnet is in place and the rear screen is in, If I get time this weekend I will put the engine back together and crank her over keys not needed for that part!.
I have got to say the piant job that Ken done on tehe boot is a goodun and a nice choice of white.

Nice one J,

She would be one to see done nicely.

That VW colour really suited the car. Thanks for the comment J, I was pleased with is as it was just a rattle can job to see what the colour was like and to protect the boot lid and rear panel from re-rustifying.

I had a closer look at the new white paint and it is very close to the white on a 1967 Rover P5 (it may be a 6) in the yard!

Dunno about that, never had the chance to match it. Are you going to continue with that colour?
