Alrighty the change is under way.

Tonight i drained the cars water
Got a new Thermostat
Took the Throttle cable off
Took the chock cable off
Removed the heater hoses
Removed the SU carbs
Pulled the waterpump cover off
Tried to get the waterpump out, got it to pop half way up but i could not get it right out of the hole.
Mocked up the manifold and carbs to make sure everything will clear and is in the right place.
The bypass tube, manifold, pumpcover look very close together.

Hopefully got a mate who is going to help me make a cable mount for the throttle.

Pictures tomorrow

Nope i didn't stew it was about 8:30 when i gave up.
I did not want to wreck anything.
Getting a Left hand Bolt welded to a dent Puller today.
Hopefully that should pull it out.

I have to hunt down some linkages etc for the carbs now.
Something i did not think about.

A word of warning.........

#232 Post by sprint95m »

The corrugated LH top radiator hose, Stu, is it fit for use?

These hoses are available for (agricultural) tractors. I don't think this type of hose is suitable for a pressurised cooling system because of the extra pressure. A friend of mine once had one of these hoses burst on a Volvo 240 after relatively little use. Not nice.

Its a Tui

Got the pump out.
The tool i made worked awesome.
Two slides of the hammer and out she popd

Mocked up the manifold and carbs again, sorted out one hole to mount the manifold needs to be ground out more. And also how heavy they are lol.

We (2eyes) and i are looking at using a linkage from the Standard setup off another manifold we have.
Should be pretty straight forward, bend up a bracket to mount the linkage on, and use a adjustable link to go between it and the carbs.

Also figured out how im going to do the heater hoses and mount the fuel pump.

Will hopefully get the linkages all sorted out tomorrow and Saturday, get the new waterpump in the block etc etc

Happy Times

is it just the photo or is it stiing a bit low at the front?

You need a good match on the ports into the head....

I'd fit the bypass hose last vi the themostat as this can interfere with the alignment ever so slightly...

Yea she is pretty low all around, how i like it.

Done a ok match up job, better than the original Su match up.

There is no coiling equipment fitted as yet, just put the new WP in tonight.
