Not really a rare car, but an unusually historic one I would say....Yesterday I saw this Rover 45, on an 08 Plate;

The owner was standing next to it, so I had to ask...

Turns out he bought online from a car dealer (not a main dealer) in Bristol, this and another car were found unregistered in a warehouse near Longbridge.

He purchased it on the 31st of August but wanted to hang on to another day to get the 58 plate, but as part of the deal he had to take it with the 08 plate. His choice in buying it was purely that "he had never had a Rover 45 before.."

Sounds as though he got quite a deal as he looked very pleased with himself.

I asked if he was pleased with the car (as you heard such nightmares about these late plate Rovers) and he said it was a super car, he was very happy with it.

I in turn said he had got himself a bit of motoring history, I don't think he really understood by what I meant by that, and got the impression that he really saw that he had just got himself a brand new car at a knock down price rather than a historic car.

Mmm, I recognise that Marina from Martin C's thread at practical classics about the Austin/Morris day at Brooklands:

I'm surprised that a well known, professional restorer would risk the identity of the car for the sake of those illegal plates though! :wink:

The mini's a rare MK2, most of which now seem to be finding their way onto eBay. Lovely thing. :eyes4u: :eyes4u: :eyes4u: :eyes4u: :eyes4u:

Well the Marina isn't his, it belongs to a fellow Marina Club member, Frank has got this one on the Island to do "a bit of tidying up of the paint", he (the guy who owns this car) has in turn Frank's Mumford which is in for mechanicals - good trade of service that.

Incidental, he has another Marina in the workshop (full resto) which is going to be fitted with a Type 9 gearbox conversion, seeing as we have one going on on here I thought it was worth a mention.

Seen today on the M56. Just to salve my curiosity, does anyone know what this car is please?

Also, on the same road, spotted a Carver One, a tilting three-wheeler. No photograph, as I was busy studying the tilting mechanism!

:lol: Mitsuoka Viewt. (Basically a K11 Micra that can look alarmingly similar to a real MK2 Jag when one comes up behind you on a dark, foggy night).

Here a front view:

It's only really ugly from the side, IMHO:
