It seems that a couple of entries have either; dropped out, or (more likely) moved to an MG's only session (as the MG's only sessions have now sold out).

So; if you thought you'd missed the boat.....

Studying the track in forehand is always a good thing.
A very good book is Autosport guide from the RAC.
All the British circuits in there as a few important forren ones, and the meager hill climbes tracks.

In detail on a map, it explains of every corner very clear the approach, entry, apex, exit, road surface before and in the corner, the condition of the curbs etc etc etc.
I think you can get an yearly update as well.

I find the xbox quite useful for that sort of thing - especially when they go to the trouble of drawing the racing line onto the track for you with the breaking points.

In that respect I've done over 100 laps of the Nurburgring... (held the lap record on Project Gotham 2 for a couple of months...)

I just know it'll not prepare me for when I eventually get there.

Jeremy Clarkson tried this with Laguna Sega. After setting good times with a Honda NSX on a game he used a real one on the real track he was crap.

Yes, that's the one I have. My wife gave it to me for Christmas about 5 years ago.... and I didn't even have to ask for it

I've been trying to do Forza 3 with everything turned off and with a manual clutch. It's very difficult to heel and toe with your thumb.

Can't be as difficult as trying to 'heel & toe' in a Dolomite/Toledo with standard pedal arrangement ?!

I was pretty serious about this, during a official event there is a limited practice time, quite often only 1/2 an hour. So using most of that time to more or les learn the track won't bring you on pole.
At the time we where active racing I studied several hours a video of the F1 Nurburg circuit before we went there the first time, it did help me. Of course not into the small details but from the first lap on it was not puzzling where to go, but repeating what I had seen several times on the screen, and now trough my own car window.

Although I liked this video of Silverstone, at a few point I had the impression, everyone was just following the car in front, there where a few good opportunity's to overtake. It is possible that the rules on that session did not allowed that, as we had ones at a track day on Spa.

Worked my way trough the book, and for sure Silverstone is demanding, several points even confusing with all these side and service roads. Think the entrance of, and the esses complex is the fun part.

I drove all the way from Warminster to Bath in my 1850 with no clutch when the hose split, it's not that hard.

It does get like that at times. The rules state that you cannot overtake unless the car in front indicates & pulls over to the right. In other words, you need permission to overtake (unlike action days at Castle Combe ).

Yes Mart I always obey the rules..........as you well know shame my brakes dont always let me slow down as much as the cars I am alongside sometimes
