A cracking weekend as always but a bit cold and wet at times. That didn't stop us all enjoying some good times though. Fortunately we managed to get the tents up and down again in the dry and in between had a great laugh. We'll be back next year for sure. It was just excellent to see so many of 'our' cars there. Nice to see some of the island TR Register guys I've met previously plus some well travelled friends such as Guy from Jersey and the couple from Holland with the beautiful Dolphin Grey TR6. Best moment for me was seeing Henry and Crispin win the award from the site owners. Henry has been to every camping weekend with his TR6 since they started in 1990. Crispin is his Alsation who is now very old (~14yrs), blind in one eye, mostly deaf and struggling with arthritis but still such a sweet natured dog. All together now, aaaah !

65 cars, 148 people, real ale, reggae, burnt meat, flatulence, and earwigs. Anyone else next year ?

Brilliant trip. The FWD behaved mostly Oil leak stopped after retorqueing head bolts and really anoying squeeky front suspension that I will be looking at. Other than that the tatty one was one of the few that didn't break down, got lots of looks and was the only representation for FWD triumphs at the weekend. Looking forward to the next one.

750 miles in 4 days with no major problem is I think pretty good going.

Thanks for a great weekend pity the weather wasn't so great on the sunday, i stayed an extra day and monday evening was lovely with a lot of Triumphs still on the island enjoying skanklin front.
For those going next year i can recommend the food in the Farmhouse Pub on the beach at the bottom of Shanklin Chine amazing.

Only downer for me was some scumbag stealing my Triumph Valve Caps (well two actully ?)
There need was obviously greater then mine.

On a positive note car passed the mot yesterday with only slight play in both front wheel bearings as a pick up,
the examiner said the brakes were better then some modern cars he has had through which if anyone has ever driven a sprint will no that is a bold statement. (Justyn the work you did on the brakes last year most have done the trick cheers)

The test can't take into account brake fade on hard-driven cars, other than that potential weakness, I'd expect Dolomite brakes to outperform modern cars' brakes on the test.
Mine doesn't need a roller test, but I persuaded my tame tester to do one anyway since he has the sense to do it with the gearbox in neutral.
Parking brake effort was well over 100% of service brake effort and side to side imbalance was a fraction of a % across the back, fronts pulled absolutely dead level.
That said, the modern Volvo has typically overservoed brakes that inspire initial confidence yet fade horribly on roads where the Dolly doesn't suffer at all. Only regular track users or those with tweaked cars would come close to depolymerising their brakes I reckon.
