There was a Saunders Abbott Limited (Company No. 00901458) which was dissolved on 23/1/1990, and which is listed in my 1972 Triumph directory of distributors and dealers. There was a Saunders Abbott (1980) Limited (company number 01502196) which was dissolved on 09/12/2008. It last filed information with Companies House in July 2000, and was closed having 3 mortgages/charges outstanding. Its registered office was last recorded as being at Baker Tilly Restructuring Recovery LLP (a business insolvency /liquidator firm - so it was closed having gone bust). There was also a Saunders Abbott (Beckenham) Limited (Company No. 01432257) which was also dissolved with 1 mortgage/charge outstanding (and which had filed no accounts). There was also a Saunders Abbott (Sidcup) Limited which was also dissolved.

Given the outstanding charges associated with the previous businesses, I'm not surprised that any current operators would want to distance themselves from it. There is currently no company with the name "Saunders Abbott" but if they exist they may be using it as a trading name familiar to the locals.

The Bromley Motor Works (Kent) Limited (Company No. 00251761) is not the same as the Bromley Motor Works Ltd (Company No. 00918108).

The Bromley Motor Works (Kent) Limited was dissolved on 05/03/1990.

I have landed here cause I’m looking for a pic [or even old work mates] from the old Saunders Abbott garage 1 wickam road, which was just along the road from the Chinese garage.

it was definitely a bmc/bl dealer in 1966 as I was a mechanic there. Owned by Harry and Richard Epps, they also started a very small garage in Albamar rd which seems to be the registered address of Saunders Abbott. At the time it just a curved tunnel that went under a new office block,[they must have added some space], it was wide enough for a car and some tools [as I recall].

It was a surprise to me to learn from this forum that Bromly motor works was at 1 Wickam road in 1967, I must left just before.

Hope some one can help as there’s no mention of Saunders Abbott, at 1 wickam rd, out there I can find. I have called the current Saunders Abbott, they deny any knowledge of of a connection

Thanks mark
Sorry to resurrect & hijack an old thread on my first post!

I've found a reference to Epps Brothers in Graces Guide, in 1953 they're described as

Car Stockists, The Larches Garage, Sevenoakes (sic) Rd., Green St. Green Kent
Telephone Farnboro' 2244 T/A "Epps Brothers" props. H. West T.Epps

This site now appears to be occupied by Bristol St Motors.

@ Mark When you worked for Epps did you know anything about the Riley-Epps Drophead coupes c1948? I had one of these in 1974 and the guy I bought it from wrote to Mr Epps and the reply came back on Saunders Abbott notepaper. I passed this letter on when I sold the car and unfortunately didn't retain a copy.
