Is there no one who reproduces these? I have previously seen these for sale on ebay, but I did not know then, that I would need them :cry: ...
Being a bit silly to have to buy the whole inner front piece, only to spend far corners. :?

I really don`t understand why triumph didn`t made the 2 door toledo sprint??? .........WHY???? :woohoo:....devil in steel :twisted:

The answer is money. Sadly to compete against the RS2000 etc it was just too dear to make. The Sprint did not sell that well in its later years say post 77 in a world with a generally crap economy, rampant inflation and a force merged mother company wioth too many competing models...like the Marina TC which was a lot cheaper to make and we all know wahy...cos it was crap basicly.

A toledo/dolomite had very little profit margin in the low end versions. We benefit from that now in the far higher survival rate, but when all your developmet cash is p155 down the toilets of moroanellegro/princess BMC, the SD1 ( sole real win ) and triumph only got the TR7 its no wonder they didn't do a 2 door sprint, which would have done much bettr in competition with that weight saving. Had Rover Triumph remained a separate entity it may all have been very different.

Besides the short tale is uglier....and has too small a tank.

Sorry Jon but I have to disagree, the 2 door shell was already on the morticians slab when the Sprint was introduced (and was buried just 2 years into Sprint production) And the short tail is PRETTIER and gives a more balanced look to the car. The tank is big enough for all sensible needs, the car was never designed as a continental cruiser despite what us nutters have done to them since!
Oh and the SD1 was crap too, the build quality was appalling and the SOHC engine was, as usual for BL, woefully underdeveloped.
But yes on one, the lighter, stiffer 2 door shell would have made a much better competition car, no doubt at all, but then the compo dept at Triumph was as cash starved as all the others!

That looks like a lovely Sprint and I am sure it will be great once you have painted it. I can tell that the quality will be good already!
You put me to shame. I have had my French Blue Toledo for three years and it needs new paint. You have already done more work than me. Maybe when you have finished yours, if you have any paint left over, I should come on holiday to Norway!! :)

Make sure that you have loads and I mean loads of money - I was overthere a few months ago with work and by god was it expenses.

Example:

In the airport Series 1 BWM on show nothing fancy - 371,000.00 Krone = £37,000.00
One of the guys at the train depot where I was working bought a 10yrs old Volvo V70 estate - £20,000.00
Went out for a meal (2 off us) 2 x burger and chips + 5 pints of lager - £80.00

D you think you will be going now.

Yes, I once sold a TR3 to a gentleman from Denmark. He couldn't believe it when I told him that the car I picked him up with from the airport cost me £35 from a friend. He said that a scrap car in Denmark would be over 100 times that price!!
Maybe I'll just buy some aerosols!
